Do be do be do do do oh
I used to be a lunatic from the gracious days
I used to feel woebegone and so restless nights
My aching heart would bleed for you to see
Oh, but now
I don't find myself bouncing home
No more I love you's
The language is leaving me
No more I love you's
Changes are shifting
Outside the words
The lover speaks about the monsters
I used to have demons in my room at night
Desire, despair, desire
So many monsters
Oh, but now
I don't find myself bouncing around
Whistling my conscience to make me cry
No more I love you's
The language is leaving me
No more I love you's
The language is leaving me in silence
No more I love you's
Changes are shifting
Outside the words
And people are being real crazy
But we will only come
And you know what mommy?
Everybody was being real crazy
The monsters are crazy
There are monsters outside
No more I love you's
The language is leaving me
No more I love you's
The language is leaving me in silence
No more I love you's
Changes are shifting outside the words
Outside the words
No more I love you's
The language is leaving me
No more I love you's
The language is leaving me
No more I love you's
Changes are shifting outside the words
Do be do be do do do oh
Do be do be do do do oh
Outside the words
The song "No More I Love Yous" by Annie Lennox and Steven Lipson is a introspective piece about the changes that someone goes through in a relationship. In the beginning, Lennox describes herself as a tortured soul who was in love with someone who did not reciprocate the same level of emotion. However, as the song goes on, there is a shift in Lennox's perspective as she realizes that her own feelings have changed. Lennox's language becomes more detached and she says that the "language is leaving me in silence". She goes on to say "changes are shifting outside the words" which suggests that her emotions have evolved but she does not have the words to describe them.
The second verse of the song is reflective of the demons that Lennox had to conquer in order to be able to express love. The theme of monsters is present throughout the song and it's a symbol for what Lennox needs to overcome. However, towards the end of the song, it becomes apparent that monsters are not limited to just the personal demons that Lennox needs to overcome, but that they can be found outside as well. The final lines of the song are repeated and are sung in a way that suggests that language may not be enough to capture the full range of emotions felt.
Overall, "No More I Love Yous" is a complex song about how people's emotions and feelings change over time. Lennox's lyrics suggest that sometimes the language we use may not be enough to fully capture what we are feeling.
