Anorexia
Anoreksi Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Such as a virus in your veins, this is the price of a betrayal,
Slowly ending your life and all whats left
It is the purpose of a hired killer, without knowing the reason,
Trying to eliminate you and all about you

Things you lost, things you'll lose stands in front of you one by one, exploiting your hope
The one that remains is a piece of hate, and you there begging for death
You'll get weaker in time, this is Anorexia
While escaping from yourself, you won't even have the strength to die
It will gnaw you, this is Anorexia
Till there is no single piece left of you.

Its your deppresed past which creates the emptiness in your brain
Blinding your eyes, can't break the walls
Insignificancy begins where the words start.
Getting drowned in deep inside of your soul.

Things you lost, things you'll lose stands in front of you one by one, exploiting your hope
The one that remains is a piece of hate, and you there begging for death

Before giving your last breath, there is no friend to you but ruins
Close your eyes now and never return.

You'll get weaker in time, this is Anorexia
While escaping from yourself, you won't even have the strength to die

It will gnaw you, this is Anorexia
Till there is no single piece left of you

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Anoreksi's song "Anorexia" describe the debilitating effects of anorexia on its victims. The first verse uses the metaphor of a virus in one's veins to describe how anorexia can slowly end one's life and destroy everything about them. Like a hired killer with no reason, anorexia will eliminate everything about the person, leaving them with nothing but a piece of hate and a desire for death. The second verse focuses on the emptiness and hopelessness that anorexia brings to its victims, blinding their eyes and drowning them in their own souls. The final verse describes how, in the end, there is no friend to the person with anorexia - only ruins - and encourages them to close their eyes and never return.

She had a horrendous childhood and was trying to get better to improve herself and her relations. Just very sorry she didn't make it. She was really sweet and I thought she would have made a great mother. I lose my first hubby to bulimia. At the time he was diagnosed, only about 7% of men had bulimia. When we first met, I never knew bc he hid it so well but after I found out, I would think back during the time we were dating and realized the signs. After 3 mos of marriage, I found out hearing him in the bathroom. We sit down and discussed what he was going through but I would never ever say the word "Bulimia". I told him I was there to help support him not doing that and I would love him regardless of weight gain. His life finally came to an end on Oct. 7, 2016 when a basilar artery stroke took him at age 53. His twin sister died two years later and she had the same eating disorder along with closet drinking. Much of which both suffered after what they had to endure as children growing up and that wooden spoon at the dinner table. They are both dearly loved and missed... RIP Brian and Dana

Another model, who died of an eating disorder, was Ana Carolina Reston, She was born in 1985 and died in 2006 at age 21. She was 88 lbs when she passed. Many have died from eating disorders that were hidden then brought to light but by that time, it was too late for some while others had a fighting chance and fought hard.

@13realitytest13

Saying anorexia is the sufferer's fault ("all she has to do is eat") is as ignorant as saying an insomniac's at fault for not sleeping (All' he has to do is sleep")

@rockycomet4587

Sleeping is involuntary. Eating is voluntary.

@liltimmy2591

Rocky Comet they still cannot eat when they have such a illness. It's about control.

@vanceh7671

my parents say both to me

@mrknowitalllt1

would you take the stance for obesity???

@ashtonjaymes6133

@@rockycomet4587 yes eating is voluntary but the disorder is a disease of the BRAIN it is a phobia of eating and gaining weight. Can you accept that some people can't just "choose" to do something that causes them extreme fear and anxiety?
