Another Direction Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Because you don't know when your sweet lips will ever meet
The cold winter air quite like tonight, the mist swept in from the Atlantic
The stage is set for something more than you can take
This is never how it was supposed to be
But words don't come easily now
It gets so hard for you to take another fall
The skyline unfolds, the clouds begin to break
But it can't save you, this time it's all on you
But home is further than you think
And everything is ruined; come undone
The pain still tears at you
It never ends.
The song 'Isis' by Another Direction is a powerful ballad that is full of poignant lyrics. The song is about a person who is experiencing a difficult time in their life, and is struggling to cope with the emotions that they are feeling. The opening lines of the song set the tone for the rest of the song, as the singer encourages the listener to breathe deep and savour the moment they are in. The idea being that we never know when we will experience something like this again, and it is important to appreciate it while we can. The singer then goes on to describe the beauty of the mist that has swept in from the Atlantic, and how it has set the stage for something special.
However, the song quickly takes on a darker tone, as the singer acknowledges that this is not how things were supposed to be. There is a sense of frustration and sadness in the lyrics, as the singer talks about how words don't come easily to them anymore. They fall short of every wish, and it is getting harder and harder for them to pick themselves back up when they fall down. The imagery is powerful, as the singer describes the skyline unfolding and the clouds breaking, but acknowledges that this cannot save them. This is a powerful metaphor for the fact that even when it seems like things are getting better, we still have to face our problems head-on.
Ultimately, the song is about the fact that life is hard, and that we do not always get the happy ending that we deserve. The pain and suffering that we experience can tear us apart, but we must continue to push on regardless. The song ends with the poignant line "It never ends," which is a powerful reminder that life is a struggle, but that there is always hope for a brighter future.

These are really important records for history. Many people forget exactly how dangerous ISIS was/is. I was in Iraq in 2014 when they invaded Mosul and today I'm here in north east Syria, working on humanitarian projects. ISIS are still a threat. They've never gone away.
