Separation
Another Rising Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

And this dream it stays the same but lives are changed and these plans, that we make, sometimes are re-arranged.

And the story that's told, are points from my perspective, to make this simple life, that's vague and undetected, the choices that we choose of lives away from pain, the pointless drama; the shit that drives me insane.

The fall that calls our name, the point it made to tell us we're wrong. Tell us we're wrong, tell me I'm wrong.

And the story that's told, are points from her perspective to change this single boy and how his life's reflected a chance to get him back, a chance to make things right about the lies he said and all the times they fight and even though it hurts you have to let it go, because those pretty smiles, they make us feel broken.
And our own defects are like a parasite, our lives created, to guide our path of light.

But things went right, when we went our own separate ways, I feel just fine. Going our own ways

Overall Meaning

The opening lines of Another Rising's song Separation highlight the concept of how dreams can stay the same yet lives are changed. This is a common experience for many people as we make plans and set goals for our lives, but often those plans have to be re-arranged due to circumstances beyond our control. The song goes on to explore the idea of how the stories we tell ourselves are often just our own perspectives and that life is frequently vague and undetected. It is the choices we make that can determine whether we live our lives in pain or without unnecessary drama.

The fall that calls our name represents a turning point in the song where the lyrics shift into a more melancholic tone. It suggests that sometimes we are told we are wrong, whether by society or someone we love, and this can be a catalyst for change. The song explores how our own personal defects can be like a parasite, guiding us towards our life's purpose. The chorus repeats the line 'But things went right, when we went our own separate ways, I feel just fine,' which seems to suggest that sometimes separation is the key to finding happiness and contentment in life.

Overall, the song Separation is a reflective and introspective piece that explores the idea of life's unpredictability and how our choices can shape our paths. It acknowledges the pain caused by separation, but also suggests that it can be necessary for us to navigate life's complex journey.

Our decisions to part ways resulted in everything turning out perfectly, and I am content with that outcome. Taking our separate journeys is the right thing to do.
