Lost
Anouk Lyrics

And violets to be blue
Why isn't my heart meant for you
My hands longing to touch you
But I can barely breathe
Starry eyes that make me melt
Right in front of me
[Chorus]
Lost in this world
I even get lost in this song
And when the lights go down
That is where I'll be found
This music's irresistible
Your voice makes my skin crawl
Innocent and pure
I guess you heard it all before
Mister Inaccessible
Will this ever change
One thing that remains the same
You're still a picture in a frame
[Chorus]
I get lost in this world
I get lost in your eyes
And when the lights go down
That's where I'll be found
Yeah yeah
I get lost in this world
I get lost in your eyes
And when the lights go down
Am I the only one
Ooh
The lyrics to Anouk's song "Lost" delve deep into the inexplicable feelings of falling in love with someone whom you can't have. The song's opening lines, which refer to the traditional colors of roses and violets, follows the theme of the futility of trying to force things to fit where they do not. It describes how the singer's heart yearns to be with the person she loves, but ultimately she feels lost and disconnected from him. The lines "My hands longing to touch you/ But I can barely breathe" illustrate the overwhelming feeling of love and longing that are intertwined with fear and anxiety.
The chorus of the song, which is repeated twice, expresses the fundamental theme of the song. The singer is lost in the world she's in, including the song and the person she loves. It's just like she can't find the way to her destination until the lights go down, then she finds him. The second verse of the song reveals that the person being loved is referred to as "Mister Inaccessible." This phrase refers to how the object of love is unattainable. The sad truth is that despite the feelings of love, it's unlikely anything will ever come out of it. The singer believes that even though things may never change, the person she loves will always be a picture in a frame.
