borderline
Anshelle Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I don't understand how it came so far
They had it all and so much more and yet
They screwed it up
Calling all angels to save their souls
Calling all angels to take them home
Calling all angels to save their souls
'Cause there is nothing left and
They're close to reaching the borderline
Trying to rescue their broken bodies
Calling all angels to save their souls
'Cause there is nothing left and
They're close to reaching the borderline
They are reaching out for help
But at the same time they don't
Don't let anybody, anybody come close enough to
Comfort their lonely hearts and to take them home
Calling all angels to save their souls
Calling all angels to take them home
Trying to rescue their broken bodies
Calling all angels to save their souls
'Cause there is nothing left and
They're close to reaching the borderline
Trying to rescue their broken bodies
Calling all angels to save their souls
'Cause there is nothing left and
They're close to reaching the borderline
Broken bodies
Save their souls
Broken bodies
Take them home
Trying to rescue their broken bodies
Calling all angels to save their souls
'Cause there is nothing left and
They're close to reaching the borderline
The lyrics of Anshelle's song "Borderline" speak of individuals who, at one point in time, had everything in their lives but eventually messed it up. The singer finds it lamentable and hard to believe how these people let things escalate beyond remedy. Throughout the song, she calls out to angels to come and rescue their souls before they reach the borderline. The lyrics are filled with emotions and a sense of hopelessness. The individuals in question are struggling to fix their broken bodies and souls, but they're too afraid to let anyone come close enough to help.
The singer uses the term "borderline" to reflect the edge between life and death, between being completely okay and being on the brink of collapse. The message of the song is that there's still hope for these people to turn things around, and someone needs to come help them before it's too late. The singer's emotive delivery of the lyrics adds to the song's emotional weight and the sense of the urgency of the situation.
