Antònia Font Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
a prop de sa torre gris.
He vist un paraigües esqueixat,
tots es mecanismes.
Un home i sa dona aturats
conversen enterra amb un moix.
Sa dona desplega i desfà,
I plou un dia normal,
sa gespa s’enverda i reviu.
Ell tira es paraigües espenyat,
tots es mecanismes.
I vola es pedaç ondulant
i com un insecte ferit,
dins s’herba per sempre aturats,
tots es mecanismes,
tots es mecanismes,
tots es mecanismes,
tots es mecanismes ...
The lyrics to Antònia Font's song "Mecanismes" describe a scene in Paris where the singer has seen a river near the grey tower of Paris and a broken umbrella with its gears and mechanics on display. The scene changes to a man and a woman conversing with a snail, where the woman unfurls and untangles her mechanics. Lastly, the lyrics describe a normal rainy day where the grass is green and alive, and the man throws the frightened umbrella, which undulates like a wounded insect and stops forever in the grass. The repetition of the phrase "tots es mecanismes" refers to the different mechanical devices in the lyrics that are part of our daily lives.
The lyrics highlight the beauty of the mundane and the things that we often overlook in our daily lives. The song's metaphorical and poetic lyrics provide a unique perspective on the mechanics of daily life, which are usually overlooked. The song encourages us to pay attention to the small things, the mechanisms, which are often the building blocks of our everyday lives but are unnoticed. The use of simple imagery like an umbrella, a snail, and a river to describe these mechanisms makes the song more approachable and relatable.
