THE PRICE IS RIGHT THEME SONG

Holiday in the hospital, no snow, just a long white coat.
Choking rhythms on a stethoscope,
this year I'm going to die.

I hear the elevator door bell ring,
listen for the shuffle of familiar feet walking down the hallway but
I guess no one will come to say goodnight.

Oh my lord, I wish that I didn't know the world's not gonna end for anybody else.

See the future in dry erase, time blocks, corresponding names,
the empty space beyond the window pane or a view to stay alive.

Oh my lord, I wish that I didn't know they'll still make TV shows long after I go.

Why does it take so long to say goodnight?
Why does it take so long to say goodnight?

When I cross over what song will I hear? Something lovely or digital clipping in my ear?
And at that moment my final breath danced around my lungs to the music in the background,
The Price Is Right theme song.

Why does it take so long to say goodnight?
Why does it take so long to say goodnight? Goodnight.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "The Price Is Right Theme Song" by Antarctigo Vespucci encompass themes of mortality and the fleeting nature of life. The mention of a holiday in the hospital, with no snow but instead a long white coat, suggests a somber and sterile environment. The line "Choking rhythms on a stethoscope, this year I'm going to die" conveys a sense of impending mortality and perhaps a bleak outlook on the future.

The second stanza delves into a longing for human connection. The singer describes listening for familiar sounds in the hospital, hoping for someone to come and say goodnight, but realizing that no one will. This emphasizes their isolation and perhaps a feeling of abandonment.

The refrain, "Oh my lord, I wish that I didn't know the world's not gonna end for anybody else" further underscores the singer's feeling of being alone in their impending fate. They grapple with the knowledge that life will go on for others, despite their own impending death.

The following stanza introduces a sense of resignation as the singer sees the future through a dry erase board, with time blocks and corresponding names. The idea of an empty space beyond the window pane could suggest a lack of hope or possibility for a fulfilling life beyond their confinement.

The repetition of the refrain highlights the singer's despair, wishing they didn't know that television shows will continue long after they are gone. This further emphasizes their sense of isolation and insignificance in the grand scheme of things.

The final stanza contemplates the moment of crossing over to the afterlife and wonders what song will accompany that transition. The mention of something lovely or digital clipping in their ear suggests uncertainty and perhaps a fear of an impersonal or disconnected experience.

Overall, the song explores themes of mortality, isolation, and the insignificance of an individual life in the vastness of the world.

This song is from the album "Love In The Time of E-mail", which is amazing, but i also really like the 4-song EP "I'm So Tethered".
