Boomerang
Anthem Lights Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I know your heart has had enough
You've hit the wall but you
Still try to be tough
You swear nobody understands this hell
That you're going through
The nightmare that's coming true
You tell your friends that you're okay, but
That light inside of you is starting to fade
You barely recognize yourself
You're lost and your so afraid
You don't have to be so brave

Sometimes we just need to break down and feel
Let go, take time so you can start to heal
Go on and throw it out
Your luck will turn around
Lose control, no, don't try to hold it in
You will come back stronger
This ain't the end
You're gonna find your way
You're like a boomerang

Walk out the door and take a chance
Sometimes you gotta fall to
See where you land
Don't gotta have it figured out
If you feel like giving up
Just lean on the ones you love
Even the sun goes sinking down, but
You know tomorrow it'll rise from the ground
Here in the rain it's hard to see
The place that you wanna be
It's closer than you think

Sometimes we just need to break down and feel
Let go, take time so you can start to heal
Go on and throw it out
Your luck will turn around
Lose control, no, don't try to hold it in
You will come back stronger
This ain't the end
You're gonna find your way
You're like a boomerang

I know your heart has had enough
You've hit your wall but you
Don't have to be tough

Sometimes we just need to break down and feel
Let go, take time so you can start to heal
Go on and throw it out
Your luck will turn around
Lose control, no, don't try to hold it in
You will come back stronger
This ain't the end

You're gonna find your way
You're like a boomerang

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Anthem Lights's song "Boomerang" convey a message of resilience and hope in the face of adversity. The song speaks to someone who is going through a difficult time and feels like giving up. It acknowledges the pain and struggle they are experiencing, but also encourages them to not lose sight of their inner strength and the support of their loved ones.

The opening lines acknowledge that the person's heart has been worn down and that they have reached a breaking point. They may try to put on a tough front, but deep inside, they are fading away and feeling lost. The song reassures them that they don't have to be brave all the time and that it's okay to break down and feel the pain. By allowing themselves to fully experience their emotions, they can start the healing process.

The chorus of the song emphasizes the importance of letting go and surrendering to the emotions. It encourages the person to throw out their worries and not hold everything in. It assures that things will eventually turn around and they will come back stronger. The comparison to a boomerang signifies the idea of bouncing back and finding their way, just like a boomerang always returns to its starting point.

The lyrics also highlight the significance of leaning on the support of loved ones during tough times. It acknowledges that it's okay to lean on others when feeling down, and they will be there to help. The song reminds the person that even in the darkest moments, there is hope for a brighter future. It suggests that the place they want to be is closer than they realize, and they just need to keep pushing forward.

Overall, "Boomerang" encourages listeners to embrace their emotions, seek support from loved ones, and believe in their ability to overcome obstacles.

"wherever I land, I'm falling into your hands" - Colton Dixon Where I end
Isn't that just the most amazing feeling, no matter what you do, even in your deepest darkest days, you can just fall into him!

Wow. You guys could NOT have picked a better day to release this song! Seriously!

Let's just say, I'm having family problems and I broke down in the middle of my Geometry class and my mood has been down and low all day today. Now hearing this song, it kind of makes me feel like I'm not the only one who keeps holding back my feelings and I am not the only one who tries to act strong for absolutely everybody.

+FlyLikeSalamence God's got you in His arms, and remember that He's watching you and beside you every step of the way. Even though you can't see Him, He's right next to you holding your hand. It's like we have blind folds, and God is leading us by the hand. Good will come out of this situation, trust in God. I have been going through a pretty rough season myself, but God is good and he will deliver you. I'll be praying for you.

Right... Because this song was made for people to not relate to. My bad for not understanding that ;)

You know, if life was perfect, there would be no God. There would be no looking forward to Heaven. There would be no God to turn to and love every day. I'm not saying God made these things happen just for him to be praised in the end. I'm saying this is the Devil trying to mess with you. I'm saying that in the end, if you put your faith in God, He WILL get you through this. Remember, even though the devil can be strong, God is eternally stronger. Look up the verse John 14:1. I think you'll like it. Now, I would give you a hug, but since we don't have the technology to do that through the computer yet, I'll just leave you with this. God will never leave you, nor forsake you. God bless you, sister in Christ!

In Times of Doubt, I Just Remind Myself: I'm Wrong
Looking to the future, I know life will have it's times of sneaking up on me and taking me down in many ways. I know it will make me feel weak, helpless, and very, very alone. I smile every day and am encouraging to everyone. So no one knows how I feel and they may never know by my choice. And I suddenly can't feel the Lord's presence anymore, and it's the scariest thing in the world. When life happens, it's very difficult to ever stop those kinds of things and feelings from happening. But what I CAN do about things like this happening in life, is remind myself: I'm wrong. I'm NOT weak. This is NOT the end. I CAN get back up again. I'm NOT alone. And if God believes that I am capable of overcoming it, then I AM. The things I love the most are the people in my life. So I do everything I can to make everyone around me happy. In return, my spirit comes back to life from the memory of my family, the words from a friend, and even a kind smile from a stranger. I've been through a lot and I'm still here. I'm going to go through worse, but I'm going to make it. Life will do its best to destroy my spirit. From every angle. In every way. And at full force. It will bring me to my knees. It will hurt me, scar me, and betray me. But I'm still going to breath. And I won't be down forever. Life is only doing me a favor by making me stronger. It will make me forget. But I'll remind myself in times of doubt: I'm wrong.
