Don't You Worry Child
Anthem Lights Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Don′t you worry, don't you worry, child
Heaven′s got a plan for you
Don't you worry, don't you worry now
There was a time
I used to look into my father′s eyes
In a happy home
I was a king, I had a gold throne
Those days are gone
Now the memory′s on the wall
I hear the songs
From the places where I was born
Upon the hill across the blue lake
That's where I had my first heartbreak
I still remember how it all changed
My father said
"Don′t you worry, don't you worry, child
See heaven′s got a plan for you
Don't you worry, don′t you worry now."
Yeah!
"Don't you worry, don't you worry, child
See heaven′s got a plan for you
Don′t you worry, don't you worry now."
There was a time
I met a girl of a different kind
We ruled the world
I thought I′d never lose her out of sight
We were so young, I think of her now and then
I still hear the songs reminding me of a friend
Upon the hill across the blue lake
That's where I had my first heartbreak
I still remember how it all changed
My father said
"Don′t you worry, don't you worry, child
See heaven′s got a plan for you
Don't you worry, don't you worry now."
Yeah!
"Don′t you worry, don′t you worry, child
See heaven's got a plan for you
Don′t you worry, don't you worry now."
Yeah!
You are love
No mistake
You are perfectly made
(X6)
Don′t you worry, don't you worry, child

Don′t you worry, don't you worry now
See heaven's got a plan for you

An actual conversation between a friend of mine and I when the original came on at a party:
Me: "Oh I love this song!"
Him: "Is this a remix?"
Me: "What? No this is the original."
Him: "I thought that boy band sang it. The one you showed me."
Me: "Anthem Lights? No they covered it."
Him: "Oh. Well they did a really good job, seeing as I thought it was the original."

A lot of people think since Anthem Lights is a Christian band they should be singing Christian songs, but being a Christian myself, I think it's amazing that they're singing secular music because each song they cover is always sung from a Godly perspective. I think this is the Lord's will for them so they can reach out and minister to all kinds of audiences, not just believers, and I think they're doing a great job, because it really shows that every word they sing is being directed back toward God, and I think even nonbelievers can see that these boys are different from the rest of the world.

I completely agree. I love it that not only Christians, like myself, like this boy band, but other people too. And this way some not believing people may discover God because of their Christian song covers.

Josephine Molina i am non religious. and i can see that this is how the decide to use their voices to praise God and let His voice come through their own.
my own way of thinking is similar but not quite the same. but i can see the beauty of it.

I can't even listen to the original or any other cover of this song anymore because my favorite part is the "you are loved/ no mistake/ you are perfectly made" and nobody else has that. You guys are just excellent and I'm so thankful you are sharing your gifts with the world!:)

My grandfather passed away last night. He was a pastor and adored this song. I shared your version with him a few days ago an it brought him to tears. I just want you guys to know you're doing something great. And all of your voices together is something strong and you have impacted my life. Many thanks guys. Story for the sappy book.
