Blair grew up in rural Clarks Town in the northwestern parish of Trelawny. His deeply religious family life (his mother was a Seventh-day Adventist and his grandmother a Revivalist) imbued him with a profound spirituality. During his youth, his favorite singers were reggae legends Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, and Bunny Wailer, musicians who strongly influenced his own style. Peter Tosh's influence can definitely be heard in Anthony B's vocal delivery and revolutionary stance.
Anthony B adopted Rastafarian beliefs as a teenager, a decision which was not well-received by his family. The stubborn and determined Anthony B refused to give up his new religion and his dreadlocks and moved to the home of his aunt and uncle in the Kingston suburb, Portmore.
While attending high school, Anthony B debuted as a deejay for the local sound system, Shaggy Hi-Power. In 1988, he befriended reggae artists such as Determine, Mega Banton, Ricky General and Terror Fabulous.
At this point in the reggae industry, singing "slack" songs about women was the popular thing to do. Anthony B did not believe in degrading women and chose to pen politically-slanted songs rather than so-called "gyal chunes." He hooked up with Little Devon the Half Pint sound-a-like singer he made his debut single "The Living is Hard" on the Wizard label in 1993. Anthony B tried many different producers but found that none of them fit his style of music. Finally, Anthony B teamed up with Richard "Bello" Bell, creating hits such as Fire Pon Rome, Raid Di Barn, Rumour, and Repentance Time. Anthony B's 1996 debut album Real Revolutionary was highly acclaimed in the reggae community. In late 1997, Anthony B released Universal Struggle which showed that Anthony B had a consistent, high-calibre talent. Anthony B has released a large number of albums since that time including 1999's Seven Seals and 2004's Untouchable which featured collaborations with artists including Wyclef Jean.
Anthony B tours extensively in Europe and North America and is known for his fiery, high-energy performances.
Anthony B is a member of the Bobo Ashanti branch of the Rastafarian movement. "Bobo Dreads", as they are known, are recognizable by their long robes and turbans. The strong Afrocentric pride and the other Rastafarian beliefs (or "overstandings" as Rastafarians prefer to call them) which Anthony B holds are reflected in his songs.

I and I defend the down pressed is a muss
In a need I and I nuh fight nor fuss
Co' everything them dem say them rightful own belong to us
My fuddah done tell I and I everything shall fall to I and I is a muss
So Babylon set the livity, everyday anudda one bite the duss
My Lawd
You don?t have to say you are sorry
For all the wrongs that you have done
I don?t wanna hear a sad story
Cuz the damage already done
Oh the damage already done
VERSE 1:
Broken bones and wounds need tender repair
Hang on brother man don?t despair (Hold on)
Although we forgive
Seven times seven
Still the damage already done
So much damage already done
Stop and listen a while to meditation style
Going straight to your mind through ya wicked and wile
Only way you can deal with this vibes is to free up ya soul and mind
Yagga Yagga Yagga Yagga Yoi
CHORUS:
You don?t have to say you are sorry
For all the wrongs that you have done
I don?t wanna hear a sad story
Cuz the damage already done
Oh the damage already done
VERSE 2:
Everybody wants their peace of mind
Trying to justify how they deal with mankind
Sometimes I wonder how they sleep at night time
When all the damage already done
Oh the damage already done
Stop and listen a while to meditation style
Going straight to your mind through ya wicked and wile
Only way you can deal with this vibes is to free up ya soul and mind
Yagga Yagga Yagga Yagga Yoi
CHORUS:
You don?t have to say you are sorry
For all the wrongs that you have done
I don?t wanna hear a sad story
Cuz the damage already done
Oh the damage already done
In Anthony B's song, "Damage," he begins by highlighting the importance of defending those who are oppressed. He believes in the unity of people and that what is rightfully owned should belong to everyone. He talks about his father's message that everything will eventually fall to him and emphasizes that Babylon sets a negative tone every day where someone falls. Moving on, in the chorus, the singer holds the person accountable, recognizing that they have caused harm and therefore do not owe an apology. He does not want to hear any remorseful story because the damage has already been done.
Verse 1 talks about the damage that has been done and how people need to be encouraged to hang on and tough it out. He believes in forgiveness even when it has to happen repeatedly but emphasizes that the damage is already prevalent. He advises people to meditate and focus on freeing their souls and minds to deal with the situation. In Verse 2, the man highlights the uncertainties of life, wondering how people justify their actions, and how they sleep at night when they have caused harm. He encourages people to seek peace of mind and harmonious living in a world full of chaos.
The song reflects on the damage that has already occurred, and we as individuals must move forward and try to mend what we can. It emphasizes the need for peace and understanding, as well as striving for a better future. The song encourages people to take responsibility for their actions and move beyond apologies since it is the damage already done.
