Go the Distance
Anthony Callea Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Of a far off place
Where a great warm welcome
Will be waiting for me
Where the crowds will cheer
When they see my face
And a voice keeps sayin'
This is where I'm meant to be
I will find my way
I can go the distance
I'll be there someday
If I can be strong
I know every mile
Will be worth my while
I would go most anywhere
To feel like I belong
I am on my way
I can go the distance
I don't care how far
Somehow, I'll be strong
I know every mile
Will be worth my while
I would go most anywhere
To find where I belong
The lyrics to Anthony Callea's "Go the Distance" speak to the universal human desire to find a place where we belong. The song is an anthem of hope and determination, urging the listener to push forward towards their goals no matter how difficult the journey may be. The opening lyrics express a longing for a place where we are welcomed with open arms and celebrated for who we are. The singer of the song dreams of finding this place, where the crowds will cheer for him and he will feel truly at home.
The chorus then declares that the singer is willing to go to great lengths to find this place. He is determined to go the distance, to be strong in the face of obstacles, and to push forward no matter how long the journey may be. He believes that every mile will be worth it if he can just find a place where he belongs. The final verse reaffirms this determination, declaring that the singer is on his way and will not give up until he finds his home.
Overall, "Go the Distance" is an uplifting and inspiring song that reminds us that we all have a place where we belong, and that we must be willing to work hard and persevere in order to find it.

I have often dreamed of a far off place
Where a hero's welcome would be waiting for me
Where the crowds would cheer, when they see my face
And a voice keeps saying this is where I'm meant to be
I'll be there someday, I can go the distance
I will find my way if I can be strong
I know every mile would be worth my while
When I go the distance, I'll be right where I belong
Down an unknown road to embrace my fate
Though that road may wander, it will lead me to you
And a thousand years would be worth the wait
It might take a lifetime but somehow I'll see it through
And I won't look back, I can go the distance
And I'll stay on track, no I won't accept defeat
It's an uphill slope
But I won't loose hope, 'till I go the distance
And my journey is complete, oh yeah
But to look beyond the glory is the hardest part
For a hero's strength is measured by his heart, oh
Like a shooting star, I will go the distance
I will search the world, I will face its harms
I don't care how far, I can go the distance
'Till I find my hero's welcome waiting in your arms
I will search the world, I will face its harms
'Till I find my hero's welcome waiting in your arms

whoa, he sang it beautifully and made it sound like its so easy to hit those notes. respect dude!
grzegorzuable
coz he sang it lower than original ;)
mrbouncelol
@grzegorzuable That is not correct. The original begins in A and modulates to C, where it stays until the end. Here Callea is performing it in C.
Trade Sharp
he didn't even sing the high note at the end
mrbouncelol
@Trade Sharp What high note? The original doesn't end on a high note, it ends on C4 and here Anthony changes it and sings a fifth above, a G4
Trade Sharp
@mrbouncelol Near the end.. "I don't care how far- I can go the distance"
"I" is supposed to be a high note.
Watch Michael Bolton singing the original.

i was listening again to Anthony's voice again - it is amazing. I also saw some other clips of him singing. He has one of the most awesome voice and most diverse looks. Sometimes it is hard to recognize him.

Anthony, you really go the distance with this song as you sing it well. It is by far my favorite version of the song and you are the right person to sing it. I love this song.

Better than Michael Bolton's?
