Find a way to distinguish patterns
In the thread of the living
Pick a path through the rough and tumble
Look within without misgiving
Darkness falls on December
Gathered in, we recall

Wait, don't let it wear you down
Call me and I'll be right round, come what
May never wears a frown, so call me
And we'll treat the world as on wedding-days
On and on through the Paperchase

Pitch a ball across a dusky courtyard
See the shadows slink away
Toss a coin into a feckless fountain
And brittle hope, it's your lucky day
Winter finds us together
Heaven knows our design

Wait, don't let it wear you down
Call me and I'll be right round, come what
May never wears a frown, so call me
And we'll treat the world as on wedding-days
On and on through the Paperchase

Wait, don't let it wear you down
Call me and I'll be right round, come what
May never wears a frown, so call me
And we'll treat the world as on wedding-days
On and on through the Paperchase

Treat the world as on wedding-days
On and on through the Paperchase
Treat the world as on wedding-days
On and on through the Paperchase

Treat the world as on wedding-days
On and on through the Paperchase
Treat the world as on wedding-days
On and on through the Paperchase

Listening to this when it came out on vinyl, with my window open, the birds would always sing along.  The place was Hamilton Ontario Canada, the time was, well it was really timeless as it feels like it was much of a dream that I lived at one time with no witnesses still alive.

Listening to this for the first time, 2016 in Costa Rica, and I experience a sense of time- and spacelessness as well.

One of the greatest records of all time. I had always been ( and still am ) a big Genesis fan. I was familiar with Anthony's work on the early Genesis records as a founding member, but never heard any of his solo albums. At an outdoor flea market in the summer of 2010, I stumbled across a killer box of prog-rock ( my favorite!!! ) Most of which I had, though some I did not. Towards the end of the bo I flipped to the most wonderful album cover. Wow! What an illustration. As I picked it up I realized it was Anthony Phillips, Wise After the Event. Bought it on the spot with a small stack of some other unusual stuff ( Passport, Hatfield And The North, Camel ).
My favorite thing to do for years and years and still to this day is, listen to a whole record for the first time on headphones tripping. Whether LSD, Mushrooms, Mescaline, DMT etc. I love it. So that summer, about a weekend after I bought the album, I ate a nice dose of LSD, waited until I was really tripping, packed up the bubbler and turned off the lights. This album BLEW MY MIND. Incredible. Right from the start with We're All As We Lie, I was so onboard. Loved all the music, all the arrangements, the playing, the lyrics..man the lyrics!! Anthony's unique, strangely trippy voice. Michael Giles drumming was fantastic ( as usual ) Mel Collins too!!!. Overall, a very well put together, very well done record. Amongst the greatest solo albums of all time in my opinion. A Prog-Rock masterpiece.

I could never say enough good things about Anthony Phillips.

Always Curious

Who knew that 'Wind & Wuthering' could be given such a strong run for its money? That's it's all by one solo Genesis member is nothing short of astonishing.
