@Tunguska - Howard was church singer at first. somewhere and somehow around early 90s corey uger (blood has been shed guitarist) found him after church singing or after church school performance (im not sure) and ask him to do join him for rock and metal projects. If im not mistaking he start singing at really young age (like 5) but it was only for church stuff. I dont know if that counts as operatic background.

@The_JustJoshing I mean, the comparison you're making makes sense, but it's a far cry from actually having an operatic background. People often liken such voices to opera, but if you actually put him side-by-side with an opera singer, the difference is vast (not for better or worse—it's just stylistically different). I'm not saying anything against him—his voice is excellent and fits his genre. But as far as I can tell this rumour about him having a background of classical/operatic training is just that—hearsay with no real source.

@The Gaming Paladin That's the problem tho. When you are endangered you don't have the power to "find" someone. You pray for someone to come and help you but while you weren't at the edge of suicide you seem very normal to your surroundings and it is extremely hard for normal people to feel that subtle difference that may occur from one day to another.
If you ever get a hint that someone might be truly depressed (and you will notice one way or another, not going outside anymore, stuck in bed, feeling sick for weeks without the usual symptoms, for example coughing etc.)
go out of your way to see that person.
If you care about him/her you must insist to see them and stand by their side.
It's the small things that make the worlds difference here.

Personally, I think the other way. This is definitely 'My Curse' style but still not KSE enough. I like this cover, it's not bad, but for me there's still nothing comparable with Bad Guy in BB style. And this version of 'Numb' is pretty cool, but not as it could be. Again, it's my opinion, I just saw many answers here and decided to participate in discussion.

I've loved and adored Linkin Park since 2009 or 10, so I was absolutely dumbfounded and heartbroken when Chester died in 2017, which was right around the time I got into Killswitch Engage (particularly the Howard Jones "As Daylight Dies" era). KSE's raw, fast, sorrowful, almost angry sound helped me get through losing Chester and in doing that they became my new favourite band. So the fact this video even exists is so poignant to me, plus how epic it is makes me think both KSE and Chester would be so proud 💗

I really love this and I've listened so many times. Saying that I'm also a huge Howard Jones fan, and I think you nailed his high screams, but missed an opportunity with his low range. In the style of Killswitch I feel it's perfect, and it's amazing in every way, but basically it sounds like My Curse with lyrics switched. Probably what you were going for, but I could also feel a tribute where it needed to be. Stellar work as always. Beyond compare.

Okay let me thicken the plot here
I hear a lot of Jesse in his cleans to be honest
And I'm talking current Jesse, this sounds so much like his vocal style from incarnate, which admittedly has a howard sound to it
I'd say the cleans are a mix of both

That was amazing. I don't know if you remember me, probably not but I was the guy who criticized your mixing a couple of years back. I was rather harsh back then, I shouldn't have been. Your progress is great. The singing is top notch and the mixing is really good too. Just overall great work!
