Anthrax's lineup has changed numerous times over their career, leaving Ian as the only constant member of the band. The band has had a revolving cast of singers and lead guitarists, including Neil Turbin, John Bush, Dan Spitz and Rob Caggiano. Since 2013, the band has consisted of Ian, drummer Charlie Benante, bassist Frank Bello, vocalist Joey Belladonna and lead guitarist Jonathan Donais. Ian and Benante (who replaced one-time drummer Greg D'Angelo in 1983) are the only two members to appear on every album, while Bello has been a member of Anthrax since 1984, replacing original bassist Dan Lilker. After two stints in Anthrax, from 1984 to 1992 and again from 2005 to 2007, Belladonna returned to the band in 2010.

Anthrax Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I've been a mark of injustice
Bound by these chains
Can't find a reason, I'm on my own
My destiny waits for a sign from me
I'm leaving alone
I'm out on my way now
The chase is my lifeblood
I have no more fears
Fire, burns in my veins
Anger, shows on my face
Hatred, it poisons my soul
Look out, I'm about to explode
Evil ones try to destroy us
We're armed and prepared for attack
We'll take on the world with the rebellion
We're dangerous down to the last
Armed and dangerous
Am I evil, or am I insane
The lion inside of me, is no longer tame
A blade in my left, a gun in my right
to beat you within, an inch of your life
The lyrics to Anthrax's song "Armed and Dangerous" depict a sense of entrapment, injustice and anger. The singer feels trapped like "lions in a cage", bound by chains of injustice and cannot find a way out. However, he is determined to break free and take control of his own destiny by leaving alone. The singer's years of experience in living through the chase have made him fearless and craving to take on the world. Friends may try to be evil and bring him down, but he and his comrades are prepared for whatever is thrown at them. They are armed and dangerous, waiting to fight back against the attacks of the evil ones.
Overall, the lyrics convey a message of empowerment and strength through adversity. The singer has faced years of turmoil but has come out strong and ready to take on the world. He will not be broken, and he will not be a victim. While he contemplates whether the lion inside him is evil or insane, he chooses to take on the world anyway.
