Anthrax's lineup has changed numerous times over their career, leaving Ian as the only constant member of the band. The band has had a revolving cast of singers and lead guitarists, including Neil Turbin, John Bush, Dan Spitz and Rob Caggiano. Since 2013, the band has consisted of Ian, drummer Charlie Benante, bassist Frank Bello, vocalist Joey Belladonna and lead guitarist Jonathan Donais. Ian and Benante (who replaced one-time drummer Greg D'Angelo in 1983) are the only two members to appear on every album, while Bello has been a member of Anthrax since 1984, replacing original bassist Dan Lilker. After two stints in Anthrax, from 1984 to 1992 and again from 2005 to 2007, Belladonna returned to the band in 2010.

Real love this time you fool
And then you wake up
And you'd chew off your own arms
Or face the only graduate from Satan's school of charm !
I hear your mama callin' you
I hear your mama callin' you
You'd better stand and face the truth boy
I drink three six packs, just so I can look at your face
Finally !
You give respect, you get respect
And you just don't know your place
Finally !
You never learn, you always burn
Now I've got you off my case
Finally !
I drank three six packs, just so I could look at your face
Finally !
See ya !
Over, finished, gone, done, out !
She's not the one your married
Not the one who cared
Maybe it's her evil twin that's got you by the short hairs
Can you live without it ?
Can you be a man ?
Can you tell her take a walk and stick it up her can !
I hear your mama callin' you
I hear your mama callin' you
You'd better stand and face the truth boy
I hear your mama callin' you
I drink three six packs, just so I can look at your face
Finally !
You give respect, you get respect
And you just don't know your place
Finally !
You never learn, you always burn
Now I've got you off of my case
Finally !
I drank three six packs, just so I could look at your face
Finally !
See ya !
Over, finished, gone, done, out !
I hear your mama callin' you
I hear your mama callin' you
Now go and pack your bags we're through
I hear your mama callin' you
Rape my mind let down the wrong path
One to many rides and you crashed
Had the looks but had no class
Steal my life and taint my past
Sorry I don't mean to laugh (take it Sam)
How long have you been waiting to be set free ?
Don't you know it's easy as one, two, three
Don't be a faggot now that's the key
Don't you know it's easy as one, two, three
Now I'm free, now I'm free, me me me, finally !!!
Over finished, gone, done, out!!!
The song "Finale" by Anthrax is about an individual who is experiencing the consequences of a failed relationship. The opening lines reveal how even though life can seem so wonderful and love can be a reality, it can easily fade away leaving one feeling trapped and wanting to escape. The individual is now consumed with regret and wishes to cut ties with the ex-partner; yet, they feel powerless to move on. The line "And you'd chew off your own arms or face the only graduate from Satan's school of charm!" indicates the pain of ending a relationship can be so intense that one might feel like cutting off one's arm to avoid experiencing the unbearable emotions. The lyric producer used such an analogy to create an impression of agony and stress attached to a failed relationship. Additionally, the lyric could also suggest that breaking free from an unpleasant partner might involve confronting an intimidating personality.
The lyrics further express the singer's frustration with the partner's lack of respect and the inability to learn from the mistakes made in the relationship. The line "You never learn, you always burn, Now I've got you off my case" indicates the individual's annoyance with the partner's inability to learn from their actions, causing them to experience a series of failed relationships. The chorus, which is repeated multiple times, states "I drink three six-packs, just so I can look at your face/Finally!/You give respect, you get respect/And you just don't know your place/Finally!" summarizes the singer's state of mind. The phrase "drink three six-packs" sounds like an exaggeration, but the actual meaning implies that the storyteller had to drink an excruciating amount of alcohol to overcome the pain of looking at their ex-partner's face.
Overall, the interpretation of "Finale" as a song from Anthrax reflects the painful experience and emotional distress one has to go through when ending a relationship. The lyrics give a sense of frustration, contempt, and an intense desire to be free from the pain of a failed relationship.
