Antonio Aguilar began his recording career in 1950, eventually making over 150 albums and selling more than 25 million records. He was known for his corridos with some of his best known songs, including "Gabino Barrera", "Caballo Prieto Azabache", "Albur de Amor", and "Un Puño De Tierra".[2] Antonio was also largely responsible for the renewed popularity of the tambora music in the mid 1980s, when he single-handedly resuscitated the genre with the hit "Triste Recuerdo". To this day he has been the only Hispanic artist to sell out the Madison Square Garden of New York City for six consecutive nights on 1997.[
Antonio Aguilar lived many years in Puerto Rico where he performed in rodeos and concerts. He made many movies and has been compared to American Western actors like Roy Rogers and Gene Autry. This is because Aguilar's charro or cowboy movies entail romantic ballads with him getting the gal. Amongst his best movies are Caballo Prieto Azabache and Bala Perdida. Antonio has appeared in American Western films like 1969's The Undefeated starring John Wayne.

Voy a dejar la parranda
Aunque me digan cobarde
A mi no me importa nada
Mi madrecita llorando
Me dice que ya no tome
La vida se esta acabando
Adios botellas de vino
Adios mujeres alegres
Adios todos mis amigos
Adios los falsos quereres
Por el amor a mi madre
Hare cualquier sacrificio
Antes de que sea muy tarde
Voy a quitarme del vicio
Se que no soy un cualquiera
Si aun me vive mi madre
Si no, ya horita anduviera
Como la pluma en el aire
Adios botellas de vino
Adios mujeres alegres
Adios todos mis amigos
Adios los falsos quereres
The lyrics to Antonio Aguilar's song "Por El Amor A Mi Madre" is a declaration of a son's love and commitment to his mother. The song starts with the son saying that he is going to put an end to his partying ways and leave his wild lifestyle because of his love and dedication to his mother. Even if he is called a coward, he doesn't care because he knows that it is the right thing to do.
His mother is crying and pleading with him to stop drinking because she knows that it will lead to his downfall, and she doesn't want to lose her son. The son is afraid that his mother may leave him if he continues with his vices, and this terrifies him.
The son bids farewell to his friends, women, and alcohol, acknowledging that they were all just false pleasures. He vows to make any sacrifice for his mother's sake and hopes it's not too late to quit his vices. The song reaches its emotional peak when the son admits that he is someone worthy because his mother still lives, and if she were not alive, he would be just like a feather in the wind.
Overall, the song is a tribute to the unconditional love of a mother and the power it has to change a person's life.
