The lyrics of Antonio Orozco's song "Voces" have a strong political and social message, urging people to speak up and fight for change. The first stanza sets the scene with a bleak picture of the world, where arrows keep falling and gold has turned black, indicating a sense of hopelessness and despair. The second stanza is a call to action, inviting people to raise their voices and join the "wars of verses" against injustice and oppression. The repeated question "¿cuánto más tiempo sin voz?" (how much longer without a voice?) highlights the urgency and importance of speaking up, as silence only perpetuates the problems.
The song also tackles issues such as war, hunger, environmental disaster, and corrupt leadership. The line "the same ones keep lying" suggests a lack of trust in those in power, while the mention of "temples without an owner" hints at criticism of religious institutions that turn a blind eye to social issues.
Overall, "Voces" is a powerful anthem for social change that encourages people to take a stand and use their voices to create a better world.
