He entered onto the scene in the early 1990s, being the first rural bachatero to reach a mainstream audience with his hit "Voy pa'lla", shortly after Blas Durán had appropriated the electric guitar for the genre. Santos' adoption of soft romantic lyrics was more socially accepted than the bawdy cabaret style common to bachata before him, and he shortly became the genre's leading artist, helping move bachata into the Caribbean Latino mainstream.
Antony Santos is currently the best paid bachatero in the Dominican Republic. He has already signed the contract to offer a concert in Puerto Rico at the Roberto Clemente Coliseum, a venue with a seating capacity of 10,000 people. This concert was on May 12, 2007 and he's said to have been paid an unprecedented US$90,000 for this one presentation alone.

Tu no tienes la culpa
Tu a mi me lo dejiste
Que pensara muy bien
Porque en la vida existe
Amors con malicia
Yo no queria enamorarme, no
Yo no sabia que hiba ser haci
Si, ay caramba
Que dolor, el que siento yo.
Mi corazon tiene la culpa
Que de ti, el se enamoro.
Me enamore! Me enamore!
Y yo no se! Ni como
Me enamore! Me enamore!
Y yo no se! Ni como fue!
(after the solo, the chord progression repeats)
The lyrics to Antony Santos's song "Corazon Culpable" describe the singer's heartache over falling in love with someone who has betrayed him. The song opens with the singer acknowledging that his mother is not to blame for his failure in love. The mother had warned him to think carefully because not all love is good. Despite her warning, the singer fell in love and gave everything he had to the woman who ultimately hurt him. He experiences intense pain and acknowledges that his heart is to blame for falling in love with someone who would treat him badly.
The chorus of the song repeats the phrase "Me enamore" several times, which means "I fell in love." In the chorus, the singer reflects on his confusion and disbelief at how he could have fallen in love with someone who would treat him poorly. The song relays the story of a heart that is both guilty and innocent at the same time. The singer is guilty of not listening to his mother’s advice, but his heart is innocent, as it did not intend to fall in love with someone who would cause him pain.
Overall, the song speaks to the complexities of love and the mixed emotions that come with falling in love with the wrong person. It is a poignant reminder that not all love stories have a happy ending and a warning to always listen to those who love and care for us.
