Sanctified
Anubis Gate Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You always hurt my feelings
You always claimed to be a friend
My anger took over
Erasing your life?s flame

All those years to remember
It?s a question of faith
And who is to blame now
It?s give and take

Glorified
We?re torn to pieces
Crucified
You watch us die
Petrified
No more excuses
Oh, I am sanctified
Glorified
We?re torn to pieces
Crucified
You watch us die
Petrified
No more excuses
Oh, I am sanctified

Heavenly father
Why do we suffer this pain
Devoted, gracefully
Sweeping my frail soul

You took all for granted
Never showed gratitude
My burning fury
Turned my vengeance loose

All those years forgotten
Nothing left I can do
The lord is calling
I did it all for you

Glorified
We?re torn to pieces
Crucified
You watch us die
Petrified
No more excuses
Oh, I am sanctified
Glorified
We?re torn to pieces
Crucified
You watch us die
Petrified
No more excuses
Oh, I am sanctified

You always hurt my feelings
You always claimed to be a friend
And who?s to blame now
It?s give and take

Glorified
We?re torn to pieces
Petrified
No more excuses
No more, no more
Glorified
We are torn to pieces
Crucified
You watch us die
Petrified
No more excuses
No more excuses

Sanctified

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Anubis Gate's song Sanctified depict a story of betrayal and revenge. The singer talks about a so-called friend who always hurt his feelings and took him for granted. In a fit of rage, the singer erases the flame of the friend's life, and now they're torn between the question of faith and who's to blame for the situation.

The singer then asks the heavenly father why they have to suffer from this pain, and in response, they are gracefully devoted to sweeping their frail souls. They realize that there's nothing left to do, but the lord is calling, and they did it all for him.

The song represents the emotions of a person who has been mentally and emotionally betrayed. The chorus "We're torn to pieces, crucified, you watch us die, petrified, no more excuses, oh, I am sanctified" epitomizes the feeling of brokenness, despair, and ultimately the sense of getting absolved following a dark period.

wumpscut1

bands never really truly remind you of Maiden,Queensryche or Iced Earth but these guys do a lot even, they sound like an established band from the late 80s at the least

alexander simmons

I definitely get Queensryche vibe from them, which is fucking rare, I don't hear many power prog bands even shoot for that.
