A self-taught guitarist and song writer, Anuhea began showcasing her talents while boarding at Kamehameha Schools in Honolulu. ''I started writing songs... I was discovering my talent and passion while discovering how to deal with emotions every teenager has to go through." Anuhea excelled in the spotlight. She was the head anchor for the daily campus-wide news, hosted a variety of TV shows for OCI6, and acted in school musicals.
After attending film school in Orange County for a year, Anuhea realized music was more her calling. She returned to the islands and immediately got into the scene, performing at local coffee shops which turned into paid restaurant gigs. Anuhea's skills improved with every gig, and successes came steadily and deservedly. She took the initiative to market herself as a musician, and until this point has acted as her own manager, booking agent, and music producer and distributor. She took recordings from a live taping for a public radio station and turned them into her 22-track demo CD "Rough Cuts" which she sells "out of her trunk" and through her MySpace page to fans across the globe.
After years of graciously turning down offers from local labels, Anuhea decided to sign with indie music label OneHawaii Music LLC. Co-founded by former Atlantic Records rep, Warren Wyatt and her aunty Nalani of Na Leo Pilimehana, OneHawaii is poised to get Anuhea heard, with major distribution through Koch Entertainment. In 2009, she released her self-titled debut album.
The future is bright for this Maui songbird. Anuhea's determination, passion, optimism and raw talent are the foundations for the success that is to come. "I just feel lucky that I've found my dream and am able to pursue it... My main goal as a music-maker is to help people find theirs, whatever it may be."
I Wanna Be There

People wanna know just who you are
Said who you are, said who you are, said who you are
Everywhere you stop, everywhere you rest
They wanna talk to you, they wanna talk to you
They wanna talk to you, they wanna talk to you
Youre spreading all your loving
And now theres nothing left for me
And I wanna be there, I wanna be there
I wanna be there, yeah
The weight of the world, as I wait for you
Hurry up and come, I wanna talk to you
Na na na na na na, na na na na na
Singing yeah, yeah
I get real when I hear these blues
Listen to our song as I think of you
Na na na na na na, na na na na na
Singing yeah, yeah, oh yeah, yeah
They wanna move their feet, they wanna move their feet
They wanna move their feet, they wanna move their feet
Everywhere you smile, everywhere you live you light up the room
And Im stumbling, thinking of being without you
Youre spreading all your loving
And now theres nothing left for me
Making people smile reuniting the diversity
And I wanna be there, I wanna be there
I wanna be there, yeah
The weight of the world, as I wait for you
Hurry up and come, I wanna talk to you
Na na na na na na, na na na na na
Singing yeah, yeah
I get real when I hear these blues
Listen to our song as I think of you
Na na na na na na, na na na na na
In Anuhea's "I Wanna Be There," the singer expresses her longing to be by the side of a loved one who is constantly on the move, spreading love and making people happy. The start of the song sets the stage for how well-known and adored this person is, with people everywhere wanting to know who they are and wanting to talk to them. Anuhea expresses her specific desire to talk to this person and be with them, feeling left out as they travel from city to city, spreading their love.
Anuhea's lyrics touch upon the idea of the weight of the world, which can be attributed to both the loved one and the singer herself. As the loved one travels and spreads love, they carry the weight of the world on their shoulders. On the other hand, Anuhea is left waiting and longing for them, carrying her own weight of the world. The chorus repeats the singer's desire to be with the loved one, and the song ends with Anuhea reflecting on the blues she feels when she's away from the one she loves.
Overall, "I Wanna Be There" is a heartfelt song that beautifully captures the longing and desire to be with someone you love, despite the obstacles that may come your way.
