Torcicolo
Apanhador Só Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
achar a chave abrir a porta e dar no pé feito idiota
Ô ô ô ô ô ô ô.
Garganta seca, gole d'agua
The lyrics of Apanhador Só's song Torcicolo describe the feeling of being trapped in an uncomfortable situation, with physical discomfort adding to the frustration. The first verse talks about a small mattress and a crick in the neck, with the elbow poking the ribs and cold feet under the covers. The second verse adds to the discomfort with a dry throat, a shiver down the spine, and sweaty hands, while a mosquito buzzes around but won't settle on the ear. Despite being with someone they care about, the singer still wants to escape, dreaming about finding the key, opening the door, and leaving like an idiot or a scoundrel.
The repetitive use of ô ô ô ô ô ô ô in the chorus adds to the feeling of being stuck, unable to find the right words or actions to break free. The lyrics suggest a sense of claustrophobia or anxiety, perhaps in a romantic or domestic relationship, or in a wider context of feeling trapped by circumstances beyond one's control. The contrast between the tender epithet "meu benzinho" (my little love) and the harsh self-criticism as an "idiot" or a "scoundrel" highlights the complexity of the emotions involved.
