Aphex Twin Lyrics

Oh, you dirty little boy, dirty little boy.

Watching the water flood off to the canal
(Watching the water flood off to the canal)

Looking at the swans, I'm feeling the birds singing.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Aphex Twin's song "Come To Daddy Little Lord" are disturbing and, taken at face value, quite chilling. The repeated refrain ("Come to daddy") creates a sense of ominousness and foreboding, while the repeated lines about wanting and eating someone's soul are downright terrifying. However, there are a few different ways that we could interpret these lyrics.

One possible interpretation is that the singer is a demonic entity or a supernatural being of some kind. "I want your soul" could be taken literally, as if the singer is trying to possess or consume the listener's soul. Meanwhile, "Come to daddy" could be seen as an invitation or a lure, beckoning the listener to surrender themselves to this dark force. In this context, the repetition of "I will eat your soul" emphasizes the singer's insatiable hunger for human souls, and creates a sense of inescapable doom for the listener.

Alternatively, we might see the lyrics as a commentary on power dynamics and predatory behavior. The phrase "Come to daddy" is often used as a teasing, paternalistic call for someone to submit to another's authority. By pairing this phrase with the more explicitly violent language about eating someone's soul, the song could be critiquing abusive relationships and the way that people with power often exploit those who are vulnerable. The repetition of the refrain could then be seen as a way of hammering home this message and creating a sense of urgency around the need to resist these power imbalances.

Overall, "Come To Daddy Little Lord" is a deeply unsettling song that plays with themes of darkness, dominance, and desire. Although its lyrics are open to interpretation, they create a visceral, almost physical reaction in listeners, forcing us to confront our own fears and anxieties around power and control.

Interesting how this version of the song sounds chill and kinda catchy instead of a death metal earrape soundtrack from a horror movie

lol you obviously haven't heard many Aphex Twin songs, 90% of it is sad sounding slow weirdness like this, then out o NOWHERE some track like come to daddy comes out and you are just like WTF !!! Trent Reznor loves to mix the insane with the sweet too, and he must have liked Aphex Twin alot to put HIS song called "at the heart of it all" on the further down the spiral album. Most people have no clue that Reznor had absolutely NO involvement in the track, and used it as almost a separation piece from the first part of the album to the second part, didn'd even tweek it or anything, I'm pretty sure its the only track labeled "nine inch nails" that actually had nothing to do with him. He is usually at least partially producing or having a remix made by someone else in that case mr APHEX just made it and he slapped it in the middle of his album and made it seem like it was the most important track on it. Quite an honor if you ask me...just some fine print that gives him credit, I remember reading it and being like "OH DAMN that makes so much sense" LOL

I remember downloading this song from Limewire many years ago. It was titled "Sun In My Mouth" by Björk. Then, on YouTube, Sun In My Mouth was a completely different song . . . Strange feeling to finally know the true title, and to realize that I've been listening to Aphex Twin for far longer than I thought.
