Raised in Cornwall, James began DJing at free parties and clubs in the area in the late 1980s. His debut EP Analogue Bubblebath, released in 1991 on Mighty Force Records, brought James an early following; he began to perform across the UK and continental Europe. James co-founded the independent label Rephlex Records the same year. His 1992 debut album Selected Ambient Works 85-92, released by Belgian label Apollo, garnered wider critical and popular acclaim. James signed to Warp in 1993 and subsequently released charting albums such as ...I Care Because You Do (1995) and Richard D. James Album (1996), as well as Top 40 singles such as "Come to Daddy" (1997) and "Windowlicker" (1999); the latter two were accompanied by music videos directed by Chris Cunningham and brought James significantly wider international attention.
After releasing Drukqs in 2001 and completing his contract with Warp, James spent several years releasing music on his own Rephlex label, including the 2005 Analord EP series under his AFX alias and a pair of 2007 releases as the Tuss. In 2014, he made available a previously unreleased 1994 LP as Caustic Window. He returned later that year with the Aphex Twin album Syro on Warp, winning the Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Album. He has since released charting EPs including Cheetah (2016) and Collapse (2018).

I will eat your soul
I want your soul
I will eat your soul
I want your soul
I will eat your soul
I want your soul
I will eat your soul
Come to daddy
Come to daddy
Come to daddy
Come to daddy
Come to daddy
Come to daddy
Come to daddy
Come to mummy
I want your soul
I will eat your soul
I want your soul
I will eat your soul
I want your soul
I will eat your soul
The lyrics to Aphex Twin's "Come to Daddy" are quite disturbing and provocative. In these repetitive and aggressive lines, we can feel the artist's desire to have total control over his audience. By saying "I want your soul, I will eat your soul," he seems to be calling on his listeners to give themselves up completely, surrendering their will and becoming a part of his twisted universe of sounds and visuals.
The phrase "Come to daddy" is repeated throughout the song, serving as a menacing invitation to come closer to him and to become a part of his world. The line "Come to mummy" at the end is equally disturbing, playing with gender roles and making us question the artist's intentions even further. The overall effect of the lyrics is to create a sense of unease and discomfort, forcing us to confront the darker aspects of our own desires and fears.
Overall, the lyrics to "Come to Daddy" are a powerful and disturbing reminder of the power of music to manipulate us and shape our emotions. Aphex Twin's use of repetition, distortion, and provocation are all designed to create a sense of discomfort and unease, forcing us to confront the dark side of our own desires and fears.

@TexanGuy91 For the sake of a trip down memory lane... it was interesting to say the least..
Big scary house in middle of a forest was bad enough for a kid. These were spirits summoned through seances by an older sibling when I was around 10 after being subjected to every horror movie you could think of like the exorcist, so I know the before and after.
I've seen pop bottles roll across the room and crush like paper, non stop running back and forth in an upper hallway ALL DAY while I was with a friend hiding in a fort until my dad came home, ash trays slammed on tables with perfect circular ashes and an upright tray on the chair next to it, ghosts watching around corners when I had the courage to look, this damn kid laughing in the basement and making my dogs go insane every morning at 3am, sinks turning on, televisions and steroes turning on or off depending..
I hid under a blanket for hours trying to sleep every night because I could hear bumps and bangs and felt them watching me (I still cant sleep in silence 25 years later) I always need a fan running. Nightmares EVERY NIGHT. Even when I dream of that house these days it is always sinister*
I moved in with my mom eventually after my sister couldnt take it anymore and my dad was left with it, he eventually admitted bad things happened in there**
Then it stopped, I dont remember fully but I think a preist was brought in to cleanse the house and it stopped years later.. at that point i was older and into drugs (no surprise) but I was trippin with a buddy and out of nowhere I looked over and there was something similar and as horrifying as the thing that climbed out of the tv in this video... it was slouched over the shoulder of my friend in a way I cant explain.. almost as if it had him in his possession as it were.. the same buddy who endured most of the experiences I had.
At that point I knew the presence was still lurking... and I can almost say for certain that dark energy has never left my side.. almost like a curse. My life has been a perpetual train wreck!
So that's that.. at least what I havent supressed anyway. There are multiple witnesses so it was no delusion. There's more I could add but it takes to long lol and harder to explain.
I wouldn't wish it on ANYONE!
But it's a hell of a chapter in my life (pun intended) so I suppose I wouldn't change it. NOTHING can scare me anymore which isnt very fun lol
Best of luck to you, the world, and anyone else struggling in life!!!
