Lichen
Aphex Twin Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You have
From head to toe
Your house is infested with mice
And you pick your nose
In-grown nails you lost your hair
Your brand new shirt is ripped and tared
How dare!
Your broke you dont have a job
So thats why you got money from the mob
Thats why there after you
All you do is drink damn booze
You smell bad i hate you!
Why dose life have to be this way
I wish i were dead or died another day
Pass the sharedani
Hope you have a nice stay
Just go away!

End
(((SU SERVIDOR GAFFONER)))

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Aphex Twin's song Lichen depict a person who seems to be struggling with multiple issues in their life. The song describes this person as having a range of physical and financial problems, such as being infested with mice, having ingrown nails and losing their hair. They are also depicted as wearing ripped clothing and not having a job, resorting to taking money from the mob. The singer seems to express frustration and dislike towards this person, perhaps due to their unpleasant smell and habit of drinking.

The lyrics also reveal that the person is feeling hopeless and dissatisfied with their life, even wishing for death as a way out. It is unclear who the singer is talking to, but it is suggested that they are asking this person to leave and go away.

What a world we live in. What a disastrous, beautiful, heart-breaking, incredible world we live in. Richard must've had a wonderful childhood. I'm so happy for him.

I was born in 2002 with autism, and my social and emotional abilities are certainly lacking, but few things have ever brought me closer to crying than Richard's incredible music. It reminds of my Grandmother, who died of Diabetes in 2014.

She was obese and never really took care of herself, but was more incomparably loving to me than anyone I've ever met. She was a true beacon of happiness and hope.

I remember when I was five, and I found a tent in the backyard of her house. It was a very hot and sunny day. I asked if I could camp in the backyard. My Uncle Aaron set up a small T.V. and I watched the movie Godzilla: Final Wars in the blinding, boiling sun, surrounded by insects and covered in sweat.

I remember Christmas, 2011, when I was given most of my Godzilla toys and movies (I am a big Godzilla fan) as I sat next to a table with miniature, porcelain, Christmas-themed buildings.

I remember the last Christmas I had with her. At the hospital. She had just had her leg amputated. It was my grandmother, my grandfather, my sister, my Uncle Aaron and I. We ate Pizza Hut together and opened our gifts. I received even more Godzilla stuff.

Coincidentally, I was eating Pizza Hut when I first listened to an Aphex Twin song.

I have only eaten Pizza Hut on these two occasions.

My favorite part about Aphex Twin fans is whenever they refer to him as “Richard” as if they were on a first name basis with the guy.
