Before their unfortunate demise, Apocalypse Hoboken toured with the likes of The Vandals, The Ataris, Ten Foot Pole, Less Than Jake, Swingin' Utters, Agent Orange, Guttermouth, Strung Out, Bigwig, Suicide Machines, At the Drive In, Murder City Devils, and appeared on West Coast dates of the Warped Tour.
Their last show in 2003 sold out Chicago's Metro, and though they haven't recorded a shred of new music in five years, demand for their live act has never been greater. A reunion at the Abbey Pub with all-original members promises to be a highlight of 2006.

Gay Parade
Apocalypse Hoboken Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Whose praises will you be singing
When you're standing on the outside
And the work goes on without you?
You've suddenly lost your function
Your eyes so filled with deceit
The scene must be dead for sure
When you're standing on the outside
Where did the good times go?
Why can't they be like days of old?
You had some pretty big ideas
And I'm sure you still do
And the world goes on without you
A circle unbroken without you
You insist on blaming everyone else
Did you ever think to blame yourself?
The song "Gay Parade" by Apocalypse Hoboken is a scathing critique of a person who has become disconnected and irrelevant from the world around them. The lyrics open with the line "The telephone ain't ringing" which sets a tone of isolation and abandonment. The singer asks "Whose praises will you be singing?" suggesting that the subject of the song has lost their voice and influence in the world. The chorus "And the world goes on without you" reinforces this idea that the subject is no longer relevant and has been left behind as the world moves on.
The second verse continues the theme of the subject's irrelevance, describing how they have "suddenly lost your function" and are consumed with deceit. The singer suggests that the music scene they were once a part of is now dead, implying that they were a driving force behind it. The song suggests that this person is stuck in the past, lamenting "Where did the good times go?" and longing for the "days of old." The song ends on a final accusation and a question: "You insist on blaming everyone else / Did you ever think to blame yourself?"
Overall, "Gay Parade" is a cynical and biting song about a person who has become disconnected and irrelevant from the world around them. The lyrics suggest that this person is stuck in the past, unable to move on, and has become consumed with blaming others for their problems.
