Before their unfortunate demise, Apocalypse Hoboken toured with the likes of The Vandals, The Ataris, Ten Foot Pole, Less Than Jake, Swingin' Utters, Agent Orange, Guttermouth, Strung Out, Bigwig, Suicide Machines, At the Drive In, Murder City Devils, and appeared on West Coast dates of the Warped Tour.
Their last show in 2003 sold out Chicago's Metro, and though they haven't recorded a shred of new music in five years, demand for their live act has never been greater. A reunion at the Abbey Pub with all-original members promises to be a highlight of 2006.

Hazelnut
Apocalypse Hoboken Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I hope it works out girl I really hope it does
Your stained tooth is living proof of your
Crooked nose that makes you aloof
Congratulations on your new found love
I hope it works out girl I really hope it does
You're bleeding urine in a rusted cup that's
Seen your God he's your hazel nut
Dead roses and stale red wine
Another relationship down the drain
Another bolt of lightning through my brain
I called to tell ya that I'm ok
Things couldn't get get any better
I want this sore to go away
It's the price I pay when we're not together
I want to watch I wanna watch you do
My biggest mistake was saying I love you
I told you things that were never true
It's the price I've paid for you
The song “Hazelnut” by Apocalypse Hoboken is a love song with a twist. The singer appears to be congratulating someone on their new found love, but there is an undercurrent of bitterness and resentment that runs throughout the lyrics. The song starts by congratulating the person on their new love, but then goes on to describe their physical flaws such as a stained tooth and crooked nose. This suggests that the singer has some unresolved issues with the person or their relationship.
The verse “You're bleeding urine in a rusted cup that's seen your God he's your hazel nut” is particularly striking. It’s not immediately clear what this means, but it’s likely a metaphor for the person’s addiction or self-destructive behavior. The fact that they are bleeding urine in a rusted cup suggests that they are in a very bad place, and the mention of God and hazelnut adds a spiritual dimension to the lyrics. Perhaps the hazelnut is a symbol for something pure and innocent, something that the person has lost.
The chorus is similarly ambiguous. The lines “Hazel nut summertime / Dead roses and stale red wine” create an eerie, dreamlike atmosphere. It’s unclear what the hazelnut means, but it appears to be important to the singer. The line “Another bolt of lightning through my brain” suggests that the songwriter has felt the pain of lost love before, and is resigned to feeling it again. Overall, “Hazelnut” is a complex and emotionally charged song that leaves a lot to interpretation.
