Before their unfortunate demise, Apocalypse Hoboken toured with the likes of The Vandals, The Ataris, Ten Foot Pole, Less Than Jake, Swingin' Utters, Agent Orange, Guttermouth, Strung Out, Bigwig, Suicide Machines, At the Drive In, Murder City Devils, and appeared on West Coast dates of the Warped Tour.
Their last show in 2003 sold out Chicago's Metro, and though they haven't recorded a shred of new music in five years, demand for their live act has never been greater. A reunion at the Abbey Pub with all-original members promises to be a highlight of 2006.

Not My Kind of Guy
Apocalypse Hoboken Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I wanna mess you up
Fuck you hard with a socket set
Promise I'll be rough
Rub you down with gasoline
You like that
Stuff your mouth with Vaseline
You like that
Don't you?
I think you do
Darling, You're not my kind of guy
She took time in loving you
You let her down for a taste of bleach
He took time in loving you
You let him down for a taste of peach
The lyrics of "Not My Kind of Guy" by Apocalypse Hoboken are reflective of the sexual and emotional frustrations of the singer. The opening line, "Look at you like a monkey wrench, I wanna mess you up", conveys a sense of anger and aggression towards someone who is viewed as an opposition or an obstacle. The use of profanity and sexual language in the following lines, "Fuck you hard with a socket set, Promise I'll be rough, Rub you down with gasoline" further emphasizes the hostile tone of the song.
However, as the song goes on, it becomes clear that the anger and frustration expressed by the singer are directed towards themselves as much as towards the object of their desire. The lines, "She took time in loving you, You let her down for a taste of bleach, He took time in loving you, You let him down for a taste of peach" suggest a sense of guilt and regret for past mistakes in relationships. In this sense, the song is a commentary on the complexities of human desire and the ways in which it can lead to destructive behavior and emotional turmoil.
