Before their unfortunate demise, Apocalypse Hoboken toured with the likes of The Vandals, The Ataris, Ten Foot Pole, Less Than Jake, Swingin' Utters, Agent Orange, Guttermouth, Strung Out, Bigwig, Suicide Machines, At the Drive In, Murder City Devils, and appeared on West Coast dates of the Warped Tour.
Their last show in 2003 sold out Chicago's Metro, and though they haven't recorded a shred of new music in five years, demand for their live act has never been greater. A reunion at the Abbey Pub with all-original members promises to be a highlight of 2006.

Safe Rock
Apocalypse Hoboken Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
It′s important to feel special when everybody want to be near you
It's a cold harsh fact that life is just that there′s no compromise in fame
We thought that you really cared but reporters got your running scared
See what happens on the outside while you rot away in the inside
A local paper calls it punk rock
The lyrics to Apocalypse Hoboken's song Safe Rock speak about the pitfalls of fame and how it can often leave one feeling trapped and isolated despite the surrounding attention and admiration. The opening line - "Open up the airwaves cuz everyone wants to hear you" - sets the tone for the rest of the song, emphasizing the overwhelming nature of the public's fascination with one's personal life. The following line - "It's important to feel special when everybody wants to be near you" - sums up the irony of the situation, where the attention can often leave one feeling lonely and disconnected from oneself.
The second half of the song touches on the idea of selling out in order to maintain fame and success. "We thought that you really cared but reporters got your running scared" speaks to the manipulation and exploitation that can come with the entertainment industry, forcing individuals to sacrifice their true selves in order to keep up with the expectations of others. The final line - "A local paper calls it punk rock" - acts as a biting commentary on the way in which the media can distort and misrepresent the authenticity of an artist's work in order to fit into their own narrative.
Overall, Safe Rock by Apocalypse Hoboken is a cautionary tale about the dangers of sacrificing one's identity and values in pursuit of fame, and the importance of staying true to oneself despite the pressures of the entertainment industry.
