Before their unfortunate demise, Apocalypse Hoboken toured with the likes of The Vandals, The Ataris, Ten Foot Pole, Less Than Jake, Swingin' Utters, Agent Orange, Guttermouth, Strung Out, Bigwig, Suicide Machines, At the Drive In, Murder City Devils, and appeared on West Coast dates of the Warped Tour.
Their last show in 2003 sold out Chicago's Metro, and though they haven't recorded a shred of new music in five years, demand for their live act has never been greater. A reunion at the Abbey Pub with all-original members promises to be a highlight of 2006.

Smoker's Cough
Apocalypse Hoboken Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You're feeling down, your hair's receding
Oh NO!
A bitter man who's got no one to call his own
A prisoner without a home to call a home
Up against a wall his vices have rendered him unable
He drinks away another day just to fell a little stable
Drink away your life
The kids don't come home anymore
Coughing up your life
Cheating on your wife
The kids don't come home anymore
The song "Smoker's Cough" by Apocalypse Hoboken portrays a man who is on a downward spiral due to his addiction to drinking and smoking. The opening line of the song, "You're getting old, your gums are bleeding," immediately sets the tone for what's to come - a description of the physical ailments that come with the man's lifestyle. The second line, "You're feeling down, your hair's receding," further emphasizes the impact his habits are having on his health.
The chorus of the song is particularly poignant, as it describes the man's isolation and desperation. He is a bitter man with no one to call his own, and he feels like a prisoner without a home. His vices have taken over his life and he's unable to break free from their hold. He drinks away his problems just to feel a little stable, but in reality, he's only making things worse for himself.
The second verse of the song highlights the consequences of the man's actions. He's not only hurting himself, but he's also hurting those around him. He beats up his wife and cheats on her, causing the kids to stay away from home. The line "Coughing up your life" is particularly powerful, as it's a clear reference to the title of the song and the long-term impact smoking is having on his health. Ultimately, the song paints a bleak picture of a man whose addiction has taken over his life and left him alone and hopeless.
