I always thought that the Doctors end was PERFECT. It fell flat on exploring his villainous characteristic towards the ending of his tenure but it really highlighted the arrogance, anger and childishness of the doctor.
He was a vainglorious Timelord Victorious.
The fact that he didn't want to sacrifice his life for the old man's (Wilfred) life REALLY made little old 12 year old me's head overflow with mixed emotions at the time.
The fact that this immortal deity who had slayed Gods, the Devil and Angels alike, had saved the planet, galaxy and the universe on multiple occasions was now all of a sudden struggling to decide whether he should save this one individual had been terrifying.
He struggled. Him winning that struggle to sacrifice himself made him seem as if he had finally remembered who he was at the end - The Doctor. The compassionate. The martyr. Him being angry that he had to even wonder whether he had to sacrifice himself for this "lowly human" felt so in character. Him deciding to finally do it, also felt so in character. I do genuinely think it was a perfect ending.
I do agree with the ending being a bit too extended but honestly, as a kid who's love for DW came from the Tenant era, I was pleased he had it. He deserved the extended farewell imo. When he said, "I don't want to go" I said similar.
Thanks for the review. I haven't seen a Doctor Who episode for about for 4-5 years or so and seeing so many blast from the past moments made my growing stoic heart feel really comforted at being able to relive moments from my childhood. This was amazing. Thank you.

NB: It has been pointed out that the Tenth Doctor's trainers were, in fact, inspired by Tennant seeing Jamie Oliver wear such trainers with a suit in an interview on TV. It is a fact, however, that McCartney is well known for a similar ensemble and, perhaps, originally inspired Oliver! Nevertheless, apologies for the error!

Side note on a side note: David Letterman was the first one who made tennis shoes with a suit a thing, Inam pretty sure as he was doing around the late 1980's

@Mrs. Schmenkman David Tennant would not have been aware of David Lettermen in the 80s. He wasnt a name in the UK/Scotland

Gibbs Reviews that's why I put it as a side note...aka... just something to note

I find it nice how Capaldi and Tennant both went from Doctor Who fans to playing the Doctor.
