Cold Blood
Apocalyptica Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Ignorance breeds fear, breeds hate, breeds violence
Everything falls down and breaks in silence
We could forgive and then forget and start over
We could finally try it stone cold sober
No more dark clouds over the horizon

We killed it in cold blood
Did it for so long
God rest her soul
Until there was no love
Until it was all gone
Nothing could grow
We killed it in cold blood

Loneliness is the curse of the broken hearted
I came undone and you just fell apart
Maybe some distance can heal us both now
We had it one but we lost it somehow
Maybe the dark clouds are finally behind us

We killed it in cold blood
Did it for so long
God rest her soul
Until there was no love
Until it was all gone
Nothing could grow
We killed it in cold blood
Blood

Ignorance breeds, hate breeds violence
Everything breaks down in silence
Your ignorance breeds hate, breeds violence
Everything breaks down in silence

We killed it in cold blood
Did it for so long
God rest her soul
Until there was no love
Until it was all gone
Nothing could grow

We killed it in cold blood
Did it for so long
God rest her soul
Until there was no love
Until it was all gone
Nothing could grow

We killed it in cold blood
We killed it in cold blood

Overall Meaning

The song Cold Blood by Apocalyptica is a powerful and emotional piece that delves into the consequences of ignorance and hatred leading to violence and the destruction of love. The first verse highlights how these negative emotions breed each other and lead to the downfall of everything. The lyrics suggest that forgiveness and starting anew could be possible if people were to sober up and end the cycle of violence. The second verse discusses the aftermath of this violent cycle and how it can leave people feeling lonely and broken-hearted. The lyrics suggest that distance could be a way to heal before ending with a hopeful message that the darkness has finally lifted. The chorus repeats the phrase "We killed it in cold blood" multiple times, emphasizing the gravity of the situation and the weight of what has been lost.

The bridge of the song breaks away from the main melody and emphasizes the idea that ignorance is what leads to hate and violence. The lyrics state that it is important to recognize how our own ignorance can contribute to these negative emotions and to actively work to educate ourselves and become more aware. The song ends with a repetition of the chorus, driving home the message that the destruction of love and the perpetuation of violence is a choice made by humans and has far-reaching consequences.

Overall, Cold Blood by Apocalyptica is a song that urges listeners to recognize the damage that hate and violence can cause and to actively work towards breaking cycles of ignorance and violence.

Sangue Frio

Nós matamos a sangue frio
Fizemos isso por tanto tempo
Deus cuide da alma dela
Até que não havia amor
Até que tudo se acabou
Nada poderia crescer
Nós matamos a sangue frio

A solidão é a maldição do coração partido
Eu vim desfeito e você simplesmente se desfez
Talvez a distância pode nos curar
Nós tínhamos, mas nós perdemos de alguma forma
Talvez as nuvens escuras finalmente focaram para trás

Nós matamos a sangue frio
Fizemos isso por tanto tempo
Deus cuide da alma dela
Até que não havia amor
Até que tudo se acabou
Nada poderia crescer
Nós matamos a sangue frio

A ignorância gera ódio que gera violência
Tudo cai em silêncio
Sua ignorância gera ódio que gera violência
Tudo cai em silêncio

Nós matamos a sangue frio
Fizemos isso por tanto tempo
Deus cuide da alma dela
Até que não havia amor
Até que tudo se acabou
Nada poderia crescer
Nós matamos a sangue frio

Our society needs to read and listen to the lyrics of this song and stop thinking of the past and push forward for the better of humanity

@briankent2396

This song resonates even more today.

@flaque23

Seriously are people complaining that this is not apocalyptica?
Well the "original" apocalyptica only had 4 cellos, no drums, no vocals, no electric cellos only acoustic ones, and i don't see anyone complaining for those changes.
I like the song is something different with good rhythm on it.

@BjornV1994

I agree but only thing, they never used electic cellos, but regular ones. You are thinking about the changes they made to make it sounder harder (they use something to tweak the sound of their instruments, I don't know how it's called but it's montaged to their cello.)

@Drakemasters123

John Murdock The thing with the "other" Apocalyptica is that when they came around they were diferent. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that they are a bad band now, but when they appear the sound was more like classical but still heavy. My friends used to say "hey, the sound of the cellos doing heavy metal is awsome". They were a new band with a new sound and a new musical personality, no one before this guys did what they did. Now they sound like any other band that does heavy metal. And I insist, they are not bad at all, but it's not the same thing.

@smorenizmaj4062

Elier Lizárraga I couldn't say it better. :)

@RomainPlancherTikiWeb

An artist is what he chooses to be, this is not the business of other people.

@Niphredyl

I really don't like the vocals, in general, nothing against this guy in particular, everything else do they should they want, and btw they still play wooden/carbon body cellos, not electric.

The video is so amazing. Apocalyptica's music videos always fascinate me somehow. They have a unique style and some videos are kinda eerie. This one, too. And a bit artsy. ^ Beautiful
