Regeneration
ApologetiX Lyrics
Parody of "My Generation" by the Who
People try to put us down (Talkin' 'bout regeneration)
Just because we're heaven-bound (Talkin' 'bout regeneration)
They say dude, your off your b(Talkin' 'bout regeneration)
I know I'll die with a born-again soul (Talkin' 'bout regeneration)
This is regeneration--this is regeneration, baby
Why don't you all find the Way (Talkin' 'bout regeneration)
And go to Titus 3:5 and see what it says (Talkin' 'bout regeneration)
I'm not artificial regeneration (Talkin' 'bout regeneration)
This is regeneration-- this regeneration, baby
Why don't you all find the Way (Talkin' 'bout regeneration)
What John chapter 3 verse 3 does say (Talkin' 'bout regeneration)
And First Peter 1:23 says the same thing (Talkin' 'bout regeneration)
It's just talkin' 'bout regeneration (Talkin' 'bout regeneration)
This is regeneration-- this regeneration, baby
This is not imagination-- this is not exaggeration
This is not meditation-- this is not vegetation
If you're tired of puttin' us down (Talkin' 'bout regeneration)
And you wanna be heaven-bound (Talkin' 'bout regeneration)
Here's what you do to save your soul (Talkin' 'bout regeneration)
Put hope in Christ before you get old (Talkin' 'bout regeneration)
This is regeneration-- this regeneration, baby
Re-re-re-re-re-generation
This is not imagination-- this is not exaggeration
This is not meditation-- this is not vegetation
Hope you got reservations-- please do not change the station

ApologetiX rewrites secular songs with (often comical) Christian lyrics. Some of their parodies include "Corinthians" (parody of "In the End" by Linkin Park), "Look Yourself" ("Lose Yourself" by Eminem), "Smooth Grandmama" ("Smooth Criminal" by Alien Ant Farm), "Smells Like Thirtysomething Spirit" ("Smells Like Teen Spirit" by Nirvana), and "Bethlehemian Rhapsody" ("Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen). Smooth Grandmama is considered to be their most well-known parody. While maintaining the integrity of fundamentalist "grannies," the song pokes fun at certain aspects.
ApologetiX gets their unusual name from the word apologetics, which means "the defense of the Christian faith." It is based on the Greek word for defense, apologia. The word is used in 1 Peter 3:15, "But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer (defense or "apologia") to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect..." (NIV). Their logo, a triquetra, is an ancient symbol of the Holy Trinity.
