DAWAN
Apparat Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
They come to me
Whispering of peace
In their digging
For cracks and holes
To hide
To hide
To hide
This moment, right
Out of focus
Left in space
Where no one cares
And I, signaling myself
Just to get through
For a second holds, and then it starts to slide
The lyrics of Apparat's song DAWAN depict a desire for peace amidst the chaos of armies and war. The opening line "Inside armies, they come to me" suggests a sense of being surrounded and oppressed by the military presence. However, the soldiers "whispering of peace" implies a glimmer of hope and the possibility for reconciliation. The lines "in their digging for cracks and holes, to hide" brings to mind the image of soldiers looking for ways to shield themselves from the violence, possibly indicating a shared desire for safety and security.
The second stanza shifts to a more introspective tone, with the singer describing a moment of stillness and clarity that is "out of focus" and "left in space where no one cares". In this moment, the singer signals to themselves, perhaps as a way of grounding themselves in reality or reminding themselves of their own existence. The line "for a second holds, and then it starts to slide" suggests a fleeting sense of peace that is eventually lost or forgotten.
Overall, the lyrics of DAWAN convey a sense of longing for peace and stability amidst the turmoil of war and conflict. The evocative imagery of soldiers "whispering of peace" and "digging for cracks and holes" creates a powerful metaphor for the complexity of human emotions and the search for safety and security in uncertain times.

The juxtaposition of the vocals and the bass at 3:21 is the most satisfying sound I think I’ve ever heard. That robot voice Apparat and Moderat use is crazy good. They put most mainstream music to shame. Just absolute masters of their craft. Love you guys so much.

I know! I know other Apparat fans, though, and they don’t care for this song. For me it’s the best song he’s ever done. I mean I love Walls with a passion, but this song is truly special.
