GOD
April's Motel Room Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
When there's so much left?
All things are God-given
And they all have been blessed
Why can't we be humble
Like the good Lord say?
He promised to exalt us
But love is the way
That's the way God wants it to be
Oh, that's the way God planned it
That's the way God wants it to be
Let not your heart be troubled
Let mourning, sobbing cease
Learn to love your brothers and
And live in perfect peace
Why can't we be humble
Like my Lord say?
He promised to exalt us
But love is the way
That's the way God planned it
That's the way God wants it to be
Yeah, that's the way God planned it
That's the way God wants it to be
Oh, why can't we be humble
Like my Lord said, y'all?
God's gonna exalt us all
But love is the way
Yeah, that's the way God planned it
That's the way God wants it to be
Ya better believe me
That's the way God planned it
That's the way God wants it to be, ya-hey
Why don't you believe me?
That's the way God planned it
That's the way He wants us to be
Love one another
Whoa, man
That's the way God planned it
That's the way God wants it to be
So we can have peace now
We've gotta do it the way God planned it
We gotta do it way He planned it to be
Before we can have peace, y'all
We've gotta do it the way God planned it
We gotta do it the way God wants it to be
That's the way God planned it
The lyrics of April's Motel Room's song "God" convey a profound and timeless message about the importance of humility, love, and brotherhood. The opening lines question the greed and materialism that often plague our society, reminding us that despite all our abundance, there is still much left that we could share and appreciate. The song then goes on to suggest that everything we have is ultimately a gift from God, and that we should approach it all with a sense of reverence and thankfulness. This includes our fellow human beings, whom we should learn to love and appreciate as equals.
Despite its simple and straightforward message, the song's lyrics are actually quite profound and multi-layered. It invokes both the Biblical teachings of Christianity and the universal principles of kindness and compassion that can be found in many different spiritual and philosophical traditions. At its core, the song is a call to action, urging us to live our lives with purpose and intention, and to always remember the importance of love and brotherhood in everything we do.
Overall, "God" by April's Motel Room is a beautifully written and thought-provoking song that speaks to the very heart of what it means to be human. It reminds us that despite our differences and struggles, we are all part of a larger divine plan, and that if we can learn to love and appreciate one another, we can find peace and happiness in this world.

Being from Simi Valley and being around the same age as these guys I was fortunate enough to see them play many times live and they were always great. Whether at TheTroubadour in Hollywood or someone's party here in Simi, they always put on a great show. I bought a copy of Black 14 the day it came out and still have it to this day!
