Though she has been recording since she was 22, and had a few chart successes with Henri Rene's orchestra in the early 1950s, she is perhaps best known for her 1963 duet "Deep Purple" with her brother Antonino LoTempio (singing under the stage name Nino Tempo) that went to No.1 on the Billboard charts. The song won the 1964 Grammy Award for Best Rock and Roll Recording. Subsequent recordings were much better received in Europe and Great Britain than in America, although the duo managed a Top 10 follow-up to "Deep Purple" with "Whispering" (the Paul Whiteman standard) and scored a moderate hit with "All Strung Out" in 1966.
She is also known for the 1959 song "Teach Me Tiger," which caused a minor uproar when it was released for its sexual suggestiveness.

Let me play among the stars
Let me see what spring is like
On a-Jupiter and Mars
In other words, hold my hand
In other words, baby, kiss me
Fill my heart with song
You are all I long for
All I worship and adore
In other words, please be true
In other words, I love you
[instrumental-
Fill my heart with song
Let me sing for ever more
You are all I long for
All I worship and adore
In other words, please be true
In other words, in other words
I love [3 piano notes] you
The lyrics to April Steven's song “In Other Words (Fly Me to the Moon)” describe a sense of longing for adventure, love and fulfillment. The singer is asking to be taken away to the moon and beyond, to experience the wonders of the universe. Metaphorically, they are asking their lover to take them on a journey of love, to hold their hand, and to kiss them. The second verse highlights the importance of their lover: they ask for their heart to be filled with song, and to be able to sing it forevermore. They declare that their lover is all they long for, worship and adore, and urge them to be true to them. The final line captures the essence of the song - the singer declares their love for their partner.
The song was written by Bart Howard in 1954, and has since been recorded by many artists, including Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett. However, it was the version by Peggy Lee that was used as background music for the Apollo 10 mission in 1969, making it the first music to be played on the moon.
