El Regreso
Arboleda Y Valencia Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

De regreso a mi tierra volví a mis mates

De regreso a mi tierra volví a mis lares

He vuelto a escuchar (he vuelto a escuchar)

He vuelto a escuchar (he vuelto a escuchar)

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Arboleda Y Valencia's song El Regreso speak about a journey back to the homeland, where the singer recounts his memories of the past. The first two lines describe the return to his homeland, riding on the back of his distant memories. The landscape of his childhood is painted in his mind as he returns, vivid and blue like it was in the beginning.

As the singer arrives at his old hometown, he vividly remembers his childhood friends and the adventures they had together. Playing with a ball made of cloth, sailing a paper boat on a little stream, flying kites high up in the sky. He once again hears the sound of the brook that flows nearby, the ever-present chirping of the blackbirds that nest in the branches of the Rayán tree.

The final lines describe the sound of the church bells ringing in the tower of the village church, which herald the return of the singer. The song is a tribute to the beauty of childhood, and the joy of returning to one's roots.
