Seria Miseria
Arbolito Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Se nos alejan las metas
La esperanza se marchita
Sólo el corazón la riega.
Vamos en busca de afectos
Para vivir esta vida
Y si el tiempo no te alcanza
Los vendedores no venden
Los clientes que no compran
Y los pobres ya no prueban
Ni las migas de la torta.
Seria miseria......
Esta miseria es seria
Si no fuera por mi negra
Ella es quien mata las penas.
Cuando llegan las boletas
Una hora haciendo cuentas
Lo que ahorré en suministros
Viene el IVA y se lo lleva.
Salgo de vuelta a la calle
En busca de alguna changa
Tanta gente apurada
Se me va aplastando el alma.
Y en el tren de vuelta a casa
Me hago el gil en la barrera
Y si el guarda no me piya
Te canto esta chacarera.
The lyrics of "Seria Miseria" by Arbolito depict the struggles of living in poverty, where dreams seem to be always out of reach and hope seems to fade away. The opening lines describe the limited means of transportation often available to those who are poor, either walking or biking, and how their goals always seem to be getting farther and farther away. The following lines emphasize how hope is kept alive by the heart, even when circumstances make it difficult to do so.
The song then speaks to the importance of companionship and relationships in making life worth living. The search for love and affection is something that all people, regardless of social status or wealth, can relate to. However, time can be elusive, and it often seems like there isn't enough of it to enjoy life fully. The chorus of the song, "Seria miseria, esta miseria es seria," underscores the gravity of the situation that many people find themselves in, where poverty is not just a fleeting inconvenience, but a serious and inescapable reality.
The last verses of the song speak to the harsh realities of making ends meet. Bills and expenses take up so much of a person's time and energy, yet often lead to little or no progress. This creates a sense of disillusionment, as even trying to save money and prepare for the future seems futile. The final lines of the song describe the sense of isolation that can come with poverty, as crowds of people rush past on the street leaving an individual feeling crushed under their weight. The song ends on a note of defiance, with the singer promising to keep on living and finding solace in music.
