Whisper
Arcane Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I heard my name echoing down familiar ground.
Her eyes in hand, wide open,
Saw it all begin,
Garden of memory to keep me in.
In silence called,
In fear and awe I caught her smile,
In tears, I understood,
I will recall the place that I had briefly been,
Where I'd seen her.
My waking dream.
In the song "Whisper" by Arcane, the lyrics describe a moment where the singer is called out into the street by someone, presumably a woman, who he has a deep emotional connection with. The phrase "her eyes in hand, wide open" could suggest that she is holding onto his gaze and looking towards him intently. The singer then reflects on how this encounter is like being transported into a garden of memory, a place where he can dwell on the past experiences with this person. The singer understands that this is just a brief moment, and he will only recall the person and the place for a short time.
The words "In fear and awe I caught her smile" suggest that the encounter was both exciting and terrifying for the singer. Their emotions are intense and raw, and they understand the powerful connection they share with this person. The line "Just for a while" emphasizes that the singer knows that the moment is fleeting and that they will have to let it go eventually. The phrase "my waking dream" reinforces the idea that the experience was surreal and intense, almost like a dream.
Overall, "Whisper" by Arcane is a powerful and introspective song that explores the complexity of human emotions and relationships. The lyrics are beautifully written and evoke a strong sense of melancholy and nostalgia, leaving the listener to ponder the true meaning of the song.

@eponaepona I read their name in a local music press magazine about a month before Chronicles was released, and checked out there myspace. At that point they only had The Seer and The Malice streaming, but I fell in love with them. I must have listened to those two songs about a hundred times while waiting for the actual album to come out. Have you also got Ashes?

Caligula's Horse is an amazing band as well.

@eponaepona Really? Where do you live? You could always get it from iTunes. You don't get all the pretty artwork that comes with an actual CD, but it's infinitely better quality than anything you'll get off the web. As for other bands, I haven't discovered any really good prog recently, but I'm digging Katatonia's new album 'Night is the New Day'. Also came across the Japanese band Exist + Trace a while back, who are really awesome. How about you?

@eponaepona Out of curiosity, how did you hear of them?
