secret
Arcane Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Looking back, it was such a vivid image.
I was on my own.
Kept thinking she would be waiting for me
To go hold her hand, and then I would go play with her.
See, I was on my own.
She wouldn't make me cry.
Wouldn't throw me down on the ground.
Wouldn't tell me lies.
Not like them.
A secret,
Since I was nine,
Not our little secret,
So I have kept it mine.
I'll never tell.
I was always alone.
She could've been my only friend,
I was not the one she was waiting for.
This secret,
I've kept it mine,
Her eyes looked for someone else,
But that's OK. I'm fine.
This secret,
I've kept it mine,
Her eyes looked for someone else,
Along a burning line.
I'll never tell.

They'll wanna know,
But I'll never tell.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Arcane's song Secret delve into the perspective of an individual reflecting back on a significant childhood memory. It paints a clear picture of a lonely child holding onto the hope of being reunited with an individual he had an affinity towards. The individual in question is presumed to be a girl, who the singer believes would never hurt him or deceive him, in contrast to their peers. The child holds a personal secret that was formed when he was nine years old, which he has since kept to himself. The lyrics suggest that the singer reached out to the girl, hoping to make a connection, but she was not waiting for him, as she was already seeking a connection elsewhere.

The repetition of the phrase "I'll never tell" implies that the singer has not divulged the details of their childhood encounter to anyone. It's most likely a sign of affection or admiration towards the girl, who he deemed to always be there for him, unlike the other people he encountered. The singer's reluctance to share the story may stem from feelings of shame or vulnerability, which are typical emotions associated with love or attraction. The burning line referred to in the song may be an indication of the girl's burning desire or passion for someone else.

Overall, Arcane's song Secret strings together elements of nostalgia, longing, and emotional vulnerability while exploring the complexities of childhood relationships and unfathomable bonds formed during that period of life.

About Vander and Silco.
At the end,
Silco says "Hello little girl, where is your sister ?"
Jinx jump on him and he is shocked by her reaction.
Jinx then answers "She left me"
At this instant, Silco expression changes radically, he stops to be shocked and he looks at vander with a contemplative and reminiscent air.
Then Jinx adds "She is not my sister anymore."
And at this instant, Silco expression changes again, he as faint movement of eyes and head, like these words go right into him, and then take a sad face and look at jinx like he "realized" something. That's when he hug her and reassure her.

I think like you said, it's a parallel of what happened between Silco and Vander in the past, Silco was devastated and shocked at the time by his Brother treason, and Jinx is just the same before his eyes, about her own sister.

Could be an additionnal hint about some brotherly link between Vanders and Silco.

And the parallel with strong big sibling (Vanders/Vi) versus younger cunning sibling (Silco, Powder) is oddly similar.

There is a huge mistake in this video. Vander 100% didn't know about Vi turning herself in.

1. Ekko told Vi everything. So Vi knew about the message that would reach the enforcers.
2. The Series makes a specific scene to show us, that Vander is putting that Message away. So he doesn't have it and Vi could take it.
3. In the talk on the Bridge, Vander says after Vi's question, what they should do, that he doesn't know but he figures it out. You can see Vi her face changes, that she knows, she has to do something.
4. Vanders Face has clearly a point of realisation, what Vi is doing after looking at the puppet.

Also quick Edit. Vi is even saying "How did you find me?". If Vander would know about it, Vi would not say that.

So no, Vander wasn't on board with Vi giving herself in. It wouldn't make any sence for his character.

Vander would NEVER give up Vi and Powder.

In the past, he betrayed Silco, the person he saw as his brother, and has never forgiven himself for it.

In episode 1, he drops his fists on the bridge the moment he realized what he had done to the people he was supposed to protect.

What we see going on is that he sees Powder is sad, picks up her stuffed bunny, realizing it was Vi's when Vi was a kid, and then realizes Vi must have given it to her as a goodbye. His eyes widen when he realizes this.

When Vander finds Vi, he tells her "Protect the Family". This is something he failed to do at a critical turning point in his life, and he doesn't want her to make the same mistake he did.

There are 2 mistakes in this video!!!

1: I miscalculated how many crystals Jinx held. 1 exploded, 4 were in her suit case, and 1 is missing. It is unlikely the last one would be in the bag in the water.

2: Even though Vi technically didn't know where to find Vander's message because Ekko only spied on the initial conversation, she HAD to be the one who alerted the enforcer to sacrifice herself because of the like "how did you find me" at the beginning of episode 3.

the title of the video has a typo - "hidded" 👉👈

Jinx has tear streaks at the beginning of the video, so I'm pretty sure at some point she was crying. Not to mention that woman looks exactly like Jinx so it had to be her parent...

MrTsuki39

Well If I remember correctly, Vander just put the message under the counter, not that hard to find...

I really love when Viktor was a kid he couldn’t run after the boat, but later on on that scene where he’s running by the water you can see that he runs past a boat in the background. Really epic :)

I believe Powder doesn't cry because she's too small. Children process grief differently because they don't quite understand death. She's affected more by Vi's tears than by the rest. One of my friends tragically lost her husband and father of her two children, one of them a three year old toddler and she would actually alternate between consoling everyone and crying asking for her dad who was, well, absent.

Nicole Lazummie

I absolutely agree with you. When my mother started crying at her dads funeral, I didn’t. I only started cryin when I saw her cry

N o t H e r e

yeah, Powder wasn't actively crying given how young she was but you could see tear stains on her face the first couple seconds of the shot, Powder was too young to process it all.
