Y bo y bo
que despacito pasaban
las horitas del reloj
Entre las raices
de la enreaera
se va alimentado
la pena en mi pecho
con sangre de mis venas
vino y se ha queao
En mi corazon
como el amargo
en la corteza verde
verde del verde limon
The song "Mirador de San Nicolas" by Arcangel is reflective in nature and has an overarching theme of loneliness and loss, as seen from the lyrics. He starts off by talking about how things happen without explanation, like water going to the seas, and flowers blooming in May. But he is lost and doesn't know where he is going. There is a rope around his neck that has him tied up without him knowing why. This metaphor is indicative of the struggles he is facing as a result of his loneliness.
He continues to delve deeper into his state of mind, saying that without her he is drowning in his sorrow, but her presence brings him back to life. He doesn't know where she is and the only way he hopes to reach her is through the wind, so that his words can reach her. He talks about how time passes slowly, and how amidst the roots of the vine that grows on the trellis, he nurtures his sorrow with his own blood, which is a powerful image.
The final lines suggest that just as the bitter taste of the lemon is in the green rind of the fruit, his sorrow is deeply rooted in his soul. In this way, the song is a poignant representation of the complex emotions that come with loneliness and loss.
