@elvinafernandes

The second movement!!! It’s just so incredibly joyful. Especially in the cello part.

@ShoaibKhan-bz5qm

This makes me happy that I almost broke my wrist to bring joy to people Xd

@otherstrephon

@@ShoaibKhan-bz5qm haha your comment really made me laugh! I performed this piece last night (playing that cello part) and had a very similar feeling. When we first rehearsed it with all the repeats I thought I was going to drop my bow

@LinCalc

@@otherstrephon lol I performed this about a year ago as vln I solo and the 2nd movement wasn't too bad to play (although I had less notes XD)
cello part sounds better than any other part in this movement imo. Great job cello friends! <3

@yousafe007

@@LinCalc you have to give us harpsichordists some credit too, we play the same Bassline with chordal realizations, basically improvise on tip too 😅

@LinCalc

@@yousafe007 oop facts mb, plus the harpsichord sounds awesome in anything XD

As children, my brother and I used to listen to this at Grandpa's house back in the 1940s and 50s. It was exciting and sweet and opened a door to a mystery about music that impelled us on a lifelong search. We wanted to know what could make us feel this way. What was it? What is this being, myself (and my Self), that can be so moved by this? My brother is long since gone, but I am still listening to and for that inner call, whatever it is, and seeking out whatever it called us to attend to.

And thank you for including the score! That always enriches the experience--and deepens the mystery.

I relate so much to this.I was struck by this piece in particular as a child even though my parents listened to a lot of baroque and classical music.
Now I can read the notes and I know so much more about music, but it still feels so captivating and mysterious to listen to and I don't really understand why.
I love that art can sometimes can give us that feeling of wonder, of something that we can all feel but we'll never be able to fully comprehend.

I have been moved to tears many times by this. It is one of the most moving and beautiful pieces written. Bless your grandpa for introducing you to this, I'm sure he was a special man.

@derpymcderpell

You must see this played live. It's an even better experience, and it's even more beautiful!
