Underachievers March and Fight Song
Archers of Loaf Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Doomed to fall.
Smashing thier evil empire up
Against the wall.
All for one,
One for all.
Till there dumped in...

Freespace.
Secondhand freespace.
Kick the grand plan.
Steal the free space.
There's no fear when the meaning is clear.
What free space, free space.

Underachievers
Attack at your leisure.
Hoist up your guitars
And make them all believers.

Underachievers
Total domination.
Kill the billion years
Of total frustration.

Heed the call.
There's a billion miles of speakers.
A billion miles of speakers
And they're coming to steal your...

Freespace,
Secondhand freespace.
Kick the grand plan
Steal thier freespace.
There's no fear when the meaning is clear.
Freespace, freespace.

Underachievers
Attack at your leisure.
Hoisting guitars
And smoking all the reefer.

I'm an underachiever
Total domination
Kick a billion years
Of total frustration.

Underachievers
Attack at your leisure.
Hoist yourself
For intercontinental seizure.

Underachievers
Total domination

Kill a billion years
Of total frustration.

Overall Meaning

The song "Underachievers March and Fight Song" by Archers of Loaf is a catchy, punk rock anthem about rebellion and defiance against an oppressive system. The song starts with the lyrics "Doomed to fall" which suggests a feeling of hopelessness and defeat, and then quickly transitions to a call to action. The band urges the "underachievers" to rise up and fight against the "evil empire" that seeks to control them. The chorus of the song, "Underachievers attack at your leisure, hoist up your guitars and make them all believers" is a rallying cry for the disenfranchised to unite and take a stand.

The song's lyrics also emphasize the importance of finding and taking ownership of one's own space. The phrase "freespace" is repeated throughout the song, and lyrics like "kick the grand plan, steal the freespace" suggest the idea of taking back what is rightfully yours. The song acknowledges the fear that comes with standing up to authority, but ultimately encourages listeners to push through that fear and fight for their freedom.

Overall, "Underachievers March and Fight Song" is a powerful punk rock anthem that speaks to the frustration and anger of those who feel oppressed by societal norms and expectations.

I believe this song was the band's Almost Famous moment. They were going for radio airplay in the style of Beck but It's so raw and honest in its portrayal of generational angst that it guaranteed Archers of Loaf would never be part of the mainstream. But I can listen to an album like Vee Vee today and it hasn't lost any of its sonic power. These guys were just so freakin' good.

The best song and video of the 90s. Fight me.

These dudes embody the laxness of that time period. The 90s might have been different for adults but I was born in 85 and I enjoyed the hell out of myself growing up in then.

I was there..in it. Listening to all this great underground rock in 92-95.
I wasn't a "nerd" either.
Was 17 in 1994. Got laid all time. I was a rock star
