In 2013, Architects parted with Century Media, self-releasing the documentary One Hundred Days: The Story of Architects Almost World Tour and joining Epitaph Records. They released their sixth album Lost Forever // Lost Together through the label in 2014, achieving widespread critical acclaim which has lasted since. Soon after the release of their follow-up All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us in 2016, principal guitarist and songwriter Tom Searle died after three years of living with skin cancer. In September 2017, the band released the single "Doomsday"—the last song that he was working on before his death—and announced Josh Middleton of Sylosis as their new lead guitarist. The single is included on their new album Holy Hell, which was released in November 2018 and is their first written without Searle.
All members of the band are vegan, having turned to veganism after watching several documentaries on the subject. They also promote the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, with Carter being one of its British ambassadors.

3) Architects (also ArchitectsKCMO) is also the name used by a Kansas City Soul Rock band who've released 4 albums (Keys To The Building 2005, Revenge 2006, Vice 2007 and The Hard Way 2009). They were formed from the ashes of Hellcat Records (and later Thick Records) Ska/Pop/Rock band The Gadjits. The Architects sound is a mature version of the later Gadjits material, dropping all ska influence for a Springsteen & The Who sounding rock approach. They are currently signed to Skeleton Crew Records.

In the heart of a star
We've lost our way, forgotten what we are
We are only particles in motion
Floating through space, a destructive race
What a destructive race
Look at this life as a grain of sand, the blink of an eye, a world in your hands
We're all thinking, feeling, surviving, believing
In what we think is right, refract distorted light
You helped build this fire inside of me
Breathing fire won't burn down the borders,
Set against everything that came before us
All those things that you despise,
We all see through human eyes
Thinking, feeling, surviving, believing
In what we think is right, refract distorted light
You helped build this fire inside of me
Breathing fire won't burn down the borders,
Set against everything that came before us
There is no side for us to choose,
Bound together, we all win or all lose
Look at this life as a grain of sand, the blink of an eye, a world in your hands
Look at this life as a grain of sand, the blink of an eye, a world in your hands
Oh, life is so short
Take a moment to feel alive
I know all we meant was to expand and to thrive
But we sharpened our claws and we went to war
With ourselves, with each other, with the rich and with the poor
With anyone different, who believes in less or more
Step out of the shadow, cast by left and right wings
Take refuge in each other and the triumph that it brings
Since we stood on two feet, we've been worth so much more
Now tear down the walls, that were built to divide,
It's time to extinguish that fire,
That fire inside
The song, Unbeliever by Architects, begins with a reference to the creation of the universe, highlighting the insignificance of human life in the grand scheme of things. The lyrics convey a sense of confusion and a loss of direction that the human race has experienced. They also draw attention to the fact that humans are nothing more than particles in motion, and their existence is transient. The song talks about the distorted light that people often see, which makes it difficult to perceive the truth. However, it notes that we all have the capacity to build a fire inside ourselves and take the lead in shaping our world's future.
The lyrics go on to encourage people to rise above prejudices like the rich-poor divide, political ideologies, and other social barriers that divide humanity. The song calls on us to take refuge in each other and work together to overcome the obstacles that come in the way of genuine progress. The song's central message seems to be that the future of humanity depends on its ability to overcome societal barriers, embrace each other, and work towards creating a better world.
The song's emotional charge is enhanced by the hardcore rock music, which at times is contemplative and at others is charged with an energetic intensity that drives home the message of the lyrics. Architects have used their music to explore social and philosophical themes that give substance to their lyrics, and Unbeliever is a prime example of this trend.
