Arctic Death is the product of many needs left unfulfilled. The subtle simplicity of early Rock & Roll has been replaced by decades of over-compensation. Steven Floyd and brothers John and Harrison Crook found the musical solution over months of all-night sessions. Insomnia and records from the fifties fueled a binge of creativity and burning tube amplifiers. What remained was a handful of shining Rock & Roll songs and a fresh ideology. The band agreed on a simple Mission Statement:
"Arctic Death is a grassroots effort with no greater objective than to be a vessel for the most pure of human desires - to be. The music is just a simple product of its environment. There is no pretense, no enigmatic intention, and definitely no prophetic rock & roll narcissism. Arctic Death believes in the beauty of human kindness, and the harsh hand of karma. The fierce drive to create and perform is no illusion, nor is the DIY ethic that the band will always rely upon. The music’s value and its growth are based on the knowledge that nothing would fulfill or enrich to any relative degree like it already has. That being said, Arctic Death’s message is simple: We are alive, and you are alive. Relish in it!"
With their first show in March of 2010 came a slew of demos. Recording, pressing, and distributing the records hand-to-hand was the obvious choice. The band dropped their first official release with their self-titled EP in August of the same year. The record quickly spread throughout the underground with the help of blogs and compilations. In the following months the band shared the stage with such acts as Tokyo Police Club, Wavves, Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin, Lemuria, etc. Arctic Death is proving to be one of the most exciting young indie rock bands of 2011.
The bands debut full-length is slated to be released on July 5th, 2011 on Susquehanna Records.

Arctic Death Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
A golden arrangement was made
And it's so easy to hold on to all the promises that you made
A figure
A monster
A simple impostor
And you didn't even know me
And we wrote the story out so both our sisters could see
And i'll let you sit me down
And i'll get in touch with my heart
I wish you didn't always have to pick me apart
I'm a pinch on your arm
I'm in too deep
I'd love to run around with fireworks going off in your sleep
You let me loose on myself
I couldn't shut you in
I'd love to say i'm leaving but i'd hate to pretend
I am just a patient
You are my replacement
Why does my life always get me in this situation
(just a little time)
I'd kill to spend it with you baby
(just a little hope)
Every minute loves to disobey me
(just a little patience)
I'd give it if i had it in a moment
(just a little heart)
Yours is never sitting wide open
I'm a pinch on your arm
I'm in too deep
I'd love to run around with fireworks going off in your sleep
You let me loose on myself
I couldn't shut you in
I'd love to say i'm leaving but i'd hate to pretend
I am just a patient
You are my replacement
Why does my life always get me in this situation
I just wanna know you
Get a little hold of you
This isn't over
The lyrics of Arctic Death's song Sisters are open to interpretation, but it seems to tell a story of a complicated relationship between two people. The first stanza speaks about a golden arrangement that was made, perhaps some kind of promise or agreement between the two. They are holding on to these promises even though they barely know each other. The next few lines describe one of the people as a figure, a monster, and a simple impostor, which could be referring to the other person in the relationship.
The second stanza begins with the phrase, "I'm a pinch on your arm, I'm in too deep," which suggests that the singer feels trapped or stuck in this relationship. They express a desire to run away with the other person, but also feel that they are held back by something. They mention that the other person lets them loose on themselves, which could mean that they are given freedom, but they still feel restrained. The chorus asks why their life always gets them into these situations, and the final lines express a desire to know the other person better.
Overall, the lyrics of Sisters seem to be about a complicated romantic relationship that is filled with contradictions and emotional turmoil. The singer seems to be drawn to the other person but also feels trapped and frustrated. The meaning of the song could be interpreted in various ways, but it definitely conveys a sense of intense emotion and complexity.
