Back ib 1966-68 I used to sing his music along with Bobby Hebb, Wilson Pickett, Eddie Floyd, Sam & Dave, Sam Cooke and of course James Brown. I also did the Temptation, Miracles and the 4 Tops. People were amazing how well I could do the impressions of them. That was a time of racial unrested but young people of all colors found togetherness in the music. That was a great time and Otis was a beautiful part of that era and growing up. I miss him even today. t would be nice to have that kind of togetherness once again.

Everyone is aware that this song was written by Jester Hairston who played Rolly Forbes on the tv show, yep you guessed it, Amen with Sherman Hemsley, right? Also, if you haven’t done so already, please watch Lillies of the Field with Sidney Poitier. Mr Hairston actually sang the song (as Mr Poitier) in the movie. You can thank me later. 😉.
