Almost the same thing happened to me.

One time in Among Us I had the urge to pretend to be an Irish. The only names I could think of were “Artemis” and “Mallory Keen”. I went with the latter as the former was too famous at the time.

And boy…. As soon as I logged in the lobby I could feel the change. (A lot more hellos to my usual cordial greetings).

And then came the first Emergency Meeting. It was my first time ever to not get ignored while propounding a theory among randoms.

I had some success in guessing the impostors over some games with the same lobby and one guy legitimately fell in love with me. He texted his number on the chat(didn’t verify obviously ), left his instagram acc name(Did check that, may have been his. Who knows?) and was virtually drooling over me in chat. I was tempted to reveal my gender and explain that I was just roleplaying a fictional personality but I thought it kinder to leave without explanation.

I remember back then on a WoW private server, my best friend and me just started and made female bloodelf characters.
We ran into some max lvl guy and asked if he could carry us through a dungeon.

Immediately the way he talked to us, we figured that he thought that we are girls in real life, so we just went with it to get all the extra gold and exp.
He was so nice and carried us through several ones and sent us gold and invited us to his friends list and wanted to chat all the time. And this went on for several days.

The guy literally stalked us at that point, so we blocked him. He then created new accounts to stalk us.
Somehow he must have found out after a while that we were guys and then real shit just started. Guy went on a campaign on the private server (which was one of the biggest private servers at that time). He went even so far to tell lies and accused us of all sort of things that we've done to him, in global chat for days, to our guild leader and even reported us to the admins.

This might not sound like much but we were like what 12-13 years old at that time and it was kind of a traumatizing experience, when some god knows how old guy starts dirty talking to you in a sexual way and then starts accusing you of all sorts of things and goes full batshit crazy and threatens you, claiming he knows where you live etc. At the end of it this was the reason why we quit WoW and found a game called Guild Wars. It took us many years to find our way back to WoW after that

@@ankushzap Some do it cause they know they can scam lonely guys for stuff. Others are just engaging in roleplay and story building and some take it too far, trying to take things out of the game and into RL.

In the first case, the poser has no respect for other people at all. Truly immature people. In the second, I have seen it go again, both ways, that some give in to the temptation and take what is given instead of correcting the error, and some correct the error of the other and let em know they are getting too emotionally invested in an RP scenario.

In some cases, the RP scenarios have resulted in genuine IRL relationships and hookups. I have known several, not just "Oh I heard this..." or "Did you hear about..." but, players I have met IRL or know in other venues outside of the game who have found actual romance from such things.

So it is possible, but sadly they are rare.

I have also known the old guy in his 50s who plays a role, in this case the guy was playing a trans/futa in ERP, who made it VERY clear the character was 1) male piloted 2) not interested in anything more than just good fun RP.

Not everyone could accept that though...

@@FaultAndDakranon When I played WoW, I used to be in a top tier raiding guild. US top 40. <Demise>

Our GM at the time, during Mists of Pandaria, was a dwarven priest named Foogacity. He was married, an industrial chemist by trade and had a new kid. One girl applied for and was accepted for a probationary raiding spot as a warlock. Warlocks were in VERY high demand thanks to the mechanics of the Throne of Thunder raid tier, 2nd raid tier of the expansion.

She started to flirt with the GM and things progressed. Long story short, our GM cheated on his wife with her and it got found out by others in the guild. Someone mentioned it one day, not knowing Foog was married, and a HUGE shit storm blew up. Many of the officers knew each other IRL.

Our GM wound up divorced, fired and forced out of his own company, and moved in with this warlock chick. A few years down the road, she dumped his ass after milking him dry IRL as well.

Another time, I was playing horde on Crushridge atthe time, our top competitor on the server for realm 1st was an alliance guild called <Humble> run by a human mage named Figs. They had a similar issue where a chick joined and started to milk some of the officers and caused lots of drama.

Much of the guild's top raiders and some of the officers who disliked this all left and made a new guild which was, for a time, a US top 10 guild called <No Chicks Allowed>. Call it sexist, but female players were not allowed in due to the drama.

While playing Star Wars the Old Republic, I was in a guild and a role player in the Entertainment division. We hosted parties in game, had live DJs, and sold services for mature audiences.

We had a girl join the guild, that I recruited, who started to play around and mess with things, manipulating people for her own gain. She wound up running me out of the guild cause she freaked out at how much I paid attention to things going on. At first I didn't realize the bullshit she was doing until she turned on me and then I saw things clearly.

We know she was female cause many of our members, her included, like to use webcams on discord. Our "Madame"/pimp/Head of Entertainment, was woman herself and quite proud to be running a stable of RP Escorts/Courtesans. She was also our princple DJ.

Fast forward a month, they managed to lure in a few wealthy clients and this girl started to play them. She convinced one of them to marry her in game. Only, 2 days later, to discover she was cheating on him and had lied about giving up ERP with others. In the end many of the players who had turned on me, thanks to her manipulation apologized to me, but the damage was done as far as I was concerned.

There are other stories out there. You'd be surprised how many girls actually DO play these games these days.

the amount of simp i'd get before telling them was amusing. ngl i made it a sport not to confirm or deny it for as long as i could.

This BS happens in real life too. During my middle school in the 90s, there was a special class we had to learn something school did not offer. It was outside the school. Boys’ task was to learn to make a wooden chair. Girls went to make clothes. However, there were three extra girls short on equipment. So they came to the boys' class to make chairs instead. Reminds me of when I played SWTOR. I'm a guy but I made a female character for the Imperial agent class (I liked the idea of a spy having seduction as a weapon among other things. It really helped defuse a couple situations.)

Back in the beginnings of WoW I was leveling in the same area as a bunch of people in a guild. Ran a few dungeons with them, treated them like I would anyone. Got a guild invite after the 3rd dungeon run. I was the only male in an all female guild until they managed to convince a few of their husbands into starting to play. That guild had 2 raid teams and a half team they ran with another guild. Back when they were 40 man raids. When raid sizes shrank we had to divvy up more of course but went smooth. 200ish in that guild, maybe 40 guys max. When ventrillo was better adapted they wouldn't invite anyone that they didn't actually talk to. All member before that also had to hop in and talk a little. So I experienced the inverse of this.

"I need to run Strath for my paladin mount quest." Instantly had 40 volunteers for a 10 man dungeon.
"Damn 5 gold short, anyone wanna run a few dungeons?" Instead my mailbox filled up with money and they'd hand me some money even after I told them I had well past what I needed now.

They also got a real kick out of inviting random people to fill a slot in a raid and getting them into ventrillo. The shock when a guy would join a raid and hear nothing but female voices was always hilarious.

I never felt more doted on than when I was with that group. It was like having a hundred older sisters and a handful of mothers/aunts. For someone that was an only child, it was nice.

This is rather random, but I remember sitting by the forge in Dark Age of Camelot, smelting weapons into hinges. Don't ask, it was a thing. Next to me was some new guy, working on his crafting and we chatted a little bit about the game. As I left, I opened a trade window and gave him a stack of hinges. He said thanks and I ran off. After a bit I get a tell, asking "What do I do with hinges?" and I replied "Sell them". Thirty seconds later I get a tell along the lines of "OMFG! Thanks!!". Those hinges sold for hundreds of gold.

Still makes me smile thinking about it like 20 years later for some reason, hehe.

I was kinda annoyed by that nature of aid when I did mmorpgs though. Like ok if I become a beggar I'll eventually find someone that will give me a spaceship but I'd rather know how to earn the spaceship for myself. Around the year 2004 I played as a priest (female) and I ran a Ragnarok Online guild with 48 members. My character was quite "popular" because I was one of the few high level priests in the server I was playing and I received party invites and PMs all the time. The best part is, back in the day (I'm talking EQ, Asheron's Call, Dark Age of Camelot, Anarchy Online, and the early days of WoW), you were kinda looked down on if you were a male playing a female toon.

Considering the low number of girls that play Modern Warfare, a considerable portion of them are attention seekers who are used to having their asses kissed by thirsty guys with no self-respect.
