The Ladder
Argus Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
As you transcend earthly ties
Rise now, wake in slumber - what you see is not unreal
It is valid, it is true
For through dreams I have seen lives untold
And through dreams I have seen my own soul
If you wish to realize
That locked doors of perception can be opened if you dare
Lay the universe open bare
For through dreams I have seen lives untold
And through dreams I have seen my own soul
Darkness...falling...summoning
Darkness...calling...calling me
Darkness...calling...calling me
Threadbare is the veil that separates the lives that bind
For those who wish to pass
Wake now, oh my brother, rise again a wiser man
You have lived beyond this time
For through dreams I have seen lives untold
And through dreams I have seen my own soul
The lyrics to Argus's song, The Ladder, are an invitation to the listener to embrace the power of dreams and the possibilities of transcending the boundaries of reality. The first stanza calls for the listener to rest and let the singer's voice guide them as they explore beyond their earthly ties. The second stanza reinforces the idea that dreams can reveal untold stories and unlock secrets of the soul. The chorus repeats this sentiment and drives the message home that through dreams, we can see beyond what is revealed in our waking lives. The third stanza invokes the mysterious and enigmatic power of darkness, hinting that there is something to be learned from embracing it. The final stanza speaks to the idea that there are other lives that exist parallel to ours, and we have the power to access them if we are brave enough.
