Bringing down the light
The one who travels thorugh time
Making us believe
He knows what's best for us.
Neverending seer
Leading us to steer
All he ever takes
Is our innocence.
Bleed for him we cry
But no one answers
Are we blind to see the truth?
God of war looking down at us
God of war he's the one we trust
If to fight is our destiny
Grant us victory.
Burned down paradise
Is it our prize
That's left to all good children
Can they sleep at night
Because of our sacrifice?
Rolling down the dice
Dividing men and mice
Only the best can make it alive
Laughter from above
We please him more and more.
Bleed for him we cry
But no one answers
Are we blind to see the truth?
God of war looking down at us
God of war he's the one we trust
If to fight is our destiny
Grant us victory.
The lyrics of Ari Koivunen's song "God of War" describe a powerful and enigmatic figure who travels through time, offering guidance to humanity while at the same time taking away their innocence. The "God of War" is portrayed as both a benevolent and a malevolent force, bringing light and leading ships to new horizons, but also demanding sacrifices and ultimately causing the destruction of paradise. The lyrics suggest that humanity is caught in a struggle between blind faith and harsh reality, as they cry out for the God of War to grant them victory in battle.
The lyrics are rich in symbolism and metaphor, with the God of War representing both the power of human will and the destructive forces of nature. The idea of innocence being taken away is particularly poignant, suggesting that humanity must sacrifice its purity and naivety in order to gain knowledge and power. The song also raises questions about the morality of war and the role of religion in conflict, as people pray for victory but wonder if they are truly seeing the truth.
Overall, the lyrics to "God of War" are complex and thought-provoking, reflecting both the beauty and the darkness of the human experience.
