Whipped Cream
Ari Lennox Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I've been eatin' whipped cream, havin' vivid dreams
Of your face and through people on TV screens
You've been everywhere
And I wish I didn't care
Oh, you've been everywhere
I wish, wish I didn't care, yeah
Wish I didn't
I've been thinkin' of you
I've been keepin' you
Alignin' my soul
With the devil that it chose
I've been thinkin' this
Thinkin' of some kids
How I'm agin', degradin'
When I give it like this
I've been cryin' at night, holdin' bullet tight
Hopin' I meet someone different, but it's true that I don't

I've been eatin' whipped cream, havin' vivid dreams
Of your face and through people on the TV screen
Everywhere
Said I'll be
And I wish I didn't care
Oh, you've been everywhere
I wish, wish I didn't care

I've been in my feels, I've been stackin' bills
Online shoppin' and robbin' my chance of survivin'
I'm late on rent, what was I thinkin'?
I'm gon' go to the gym, squat real low for a man
'Round you it revolves, I can't shake it off
Unrequited, admit it, you were never mine at all
Never mine, never mine
Never mine at all
Never mine
Never mine at all

I've been eatin' whipped cream, havin' vivid dreams
Of your face and through people on TV screens
You've been everywhere
And I wish I didn't care
Oh, you've been everywhere
Oh I wish, (said I wish) wish I didn't care, yeah

Ooh, yeah, ooh
Eat
Ooh, yeah, ooh
Your deceivin', receivin', non-givin' headass
Your deceivin', receivin', non-givin' headass (oh, yeah)

I've been eatin' whipped cream, havin' vivid dreams
Of your face and through people on TV screens
You've been everywhere
And I wish I didn't care

Oh, you've been everywhere (you've been, you've been, you've been)
I wish, wish I didn't care, yeah

Overall Meaning

In Ari Lennox's song "Whipped Cream," she describes eating whipped cream and having vivid dreams about a person whom she's been thinking about a lot lately. The person is all over the TV and seemingly everywhere she turns, and she wishes she could stop caring about them so much. She's been trying to align her soul with the devil she's chosen, possibly alluding to the fact that she knows this person might not be good for her, but she can't help how she feels. She even admits that she's been crying at night and hoping she'll meet someone different, but it hasn't happened yet. Despite all this, she's still holding onto hope that things will change.

The lyrics then shift to discuss some financial struggles Lennox has been facing, such as being late on rent and spending too much money online shopping. She talks about going to the gym to try to improve her appearance for a man who she can't shake off. She admits that he was never really hers, and he likely won't be. The song ends with Lennox once again saying she wishes she didn't care about this person so much, but it's clear that she can't help her feelings.

Overall, "Whipped Cream" is a relatable depiction of unrequited love and the pain that comes with it. Lennox's soulful voice and honest lyrics make the song feel even more raw and emotive.

You can try to spin it however you like, but 'Fine asf' is almost always used exclusively, when expressing with raw emotion, a physical attraction to another person.

I'm not playing judge on anyone's sexuality here, only issue I have here is the ancestral mention that black people of today---who a lot of times could give two shits about their ancestors in reality---love to make which suggests some sort of connection with all that is pure and natural in essence.

She is a beauty, but "fine as fuck" doesn't sound at all like a simple compliment of a female when coming from another female.

Fine as fuck?

Come on now.
